1989 Peugeot 405 GR 1.6 petrol from Malta

Summary:

The perfect workmen's and family car

Faults:

The Thermostat was replaced because of less of use (Cheap and easy to change).

General Comments:

Unfortunately my Dad doesn't use the car because he is always abroad because of work.

When you say someone that our car has 13 years and only 4096 miles on it, they don't believe you.

It still has the factory protection seat covers.

It never got out in rain and it has everything original.

It has these extras, electric windows, electric sunroof, electric mirrors, central locking, power steering and it was bought for $18,000.

The few that we used this car, I can say that it handles perfect and the braking is excellent and it is good looking too.

I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and to be honest I don't stay a lot comfortable at the back because my head touches the roof.

Fortunately my dad is going to give to me and I am going to modify it a little bit like, spraying the handles, new alloys and maybe an Ecosse body-kit.

Yes it is quite fast although it is heavy and engine sounds great at high revs.

I like this car so much and I am trying to find another similar model such as the Mi16 or the famous T16.

Of no use to those interested in putting normal mileage on this car. The reviewer lives on an island, and rarely has to drive anything, but short distances --- he says so himself!

1989 Peugeot 405 MI16 1.9 Fuel Injection from North America

Summary:

A great performer that should be still on the market to rival the Japanese

Faults:

The clutch broke, not worn out! At 130,000km.

Driver seat wears out where the seat belt rubs on it.

Replaced a CPU at 150,000km.

I keep burning out the distributor caps.

Replaced the fan blower twice and will have to be replaced soon.

Braking system does not last long enough.

I have to replace the switches for the power windows repeatedly.

General Comments:

When the car is running well, it is a great pleasure to drive. I used to push the car to the limits, but I have found that this is very costly. These days I take my time, and everything seems to be OK.

General Comments:

After driving this car, you will never go back to driving anything else. This car handles amazingly. It's like nothing else I've ever driven. After driving a Volkswagen GTI VR6, a Passat V6, Saab 9000, and an Audi, I can say that this car handles the best of them all. For the price I cannot think of a better car.

The 16 valve 150 HP engine likes to be driven hard, high up in the revs. The powerband is really awesome in this car from around 3500 RPM all the way to 7000. My only complaint is the amount of low end torque this car has. It is very fast if you are at the right RPM.

The engine has been very reliable to me.

The Mi16's came with all sorts of options as well. Such as: Leather, power windows, central locking, heated seats and a power moonroof. For exterior the Mi16's had fog lights, different wheels, and a rear spoiler. The car is quite good looking, and still looks like a very modern car.

The seats are first class. They are very comfortable. The cabin is very nice, but the build quality is questionable. The car seems to rattle and creek quite a bit.

The 405 handles like it's on rails and has great power. It is a rare car in the U.S. that stands out just enough in the crowd. Go with an Mi16 for the pure driving pleasure. I could not go with a better first car.

The only thing with these cars is they should be maintained well, or else you start to encounter problems.
