2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.4L from North America

Summary:

Another great style from Pontiac

Faults:

My drivers side window has scratches on it from going up and down.

My blinker signal sound makes weird noises sometimes.

My brakes have been replaced more times than they should.

The passenger front tire area has a loud sound coming from it when turning to the right. And technicians don't have a clue!

General Comments:

Great acceleration and handling.

Poor on road noise.

But I believe, if you take care of a car, it will take care of you!

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 Ram Air from North America

Summary:

A great performance car at a low cost

Faults:

When I first got the car the dealership was kind enough to give me a recent trade-in that they hadn't yet serviced. It needed new brake pads and rotors the calipers were sticking so they too had to be replaced. The air filter was dirty, and it needed an oil change. The previous owner must have done their own changes because it had 6.5 quarts of oil in it instead of the 4.5 required. No problems since with the exception of the Goodyear Eagle RSA-s that will soon be replaced.

General Comments:

I love the cars performance, but being a guy I'd like to modify it not just to make it faster, but to personalize it so it's not like every other Grand Am on the road. The fuel economy is great considering the performance you get. I'd like it more if only it were more roomy, the interior is nicely set-up, but kind of cramped.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT from North America

Summary:

Lemon

Faults:

The car start cutting off after the warranty had expired.

It was put on a computer, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. The mechanic drove it and stated he couldn't find anything wrong.

Drove the car for 1 month and it stopped again with the same problem.

It took me 2 1/2 hours to get the car home, from a location that would had taken 15 minutes. It would run and then just stop. It is now in the shop again.

General Comments:

The signal lights works occasionally and the light in the radio also works occasionally.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT from North America

Summary:

Love the car, hate that it's having fits now!

Faults:

I bought this car brand new.

I did notice from the beginning that the car made a rattling noise from the front end on really cold days, but other than that, it wasn't bothersome. The dealership said that this was just how this car was, and that it was nothing to be concerned about, so I've thought nothing of it.

It has been the best car I've owned until recently when the problems began, three weeks ago exactly.

My rear view mirror fell off! I've had a car ever since I was 16, and this has never happened before! I'm 31 now! The dealership said it was a common thing on any car, so I thought nothing of it. They said it was covered under the warranty, and reminded me that my warranty was going to expire within the next 15 days.

Well, on day 17, my "low coolant" light began coming on and going off. It's still doing it today!!

On day 20, my brakes began feeling like they were pulsating.

Hmmmmm, how convenient to have all this happen just a week after my warranty is up.

General Comments:

I'm not sure if I'm looking at this list right, but y'all may want to check this site out, as to me it appears to be a recall list for 2000 Grand Am's with brakes and coolant leaks issued this year.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT Ram Air 3.4L from North America

Summary:

Most fun Pontiac car to drive

Faults:

I have had no major mechanical problems with this car besides bad brakes which Pontiac is known for. After I replaced those with some solid after market brakes everything was fine.

Some electrical problems, but only because I touched things I shouldn't have.

No major complaints on this car.

General Comments:

The Grand Am is a great car no matter which way you look at it. The value is unbeatable for the price and the appearance is first class. I realize some automobiles come off the factory line with major problems. However this happens very rarely and does not mean all Grand Am's are bad. My 2000 Grand Am GT handles great, accelerates incredibly for a V6 and is designed perfectly. I would be very happy with another Grand Am.
