Hey yeah. If the car guzzles antifreeze with no visible leak, you're probably leaking it in to the cylinders because of a bad head gasket. They have a tendency to go bad on these cars.

1990 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1 Liter from North America

Summary:

Wonderful in its prime, but too many electric parts to go wrong with

Faults:

There has been many electrical problems, due to everything in the car being electric.

There are no front cup holders, but there are some in the back.

The seat belts, tend not to retract after they are pulled out, this happened in all four seats. This started to happen on the passenger seatbelt at 80,000 miles.

The power antenna stopped going at about 90,000 miles.

Parts on the undersides of the plastic bumpers tend to break when you tap something, like a parking stopper.

In the winter the heater only blows out of the defroster vent on the dash.

I don't know if the air conditioner is electrically controlled, but when you give the car the gas, the air conditioner will stop blowing out of the vents, and move to the dash and floor vents, until you stop pushing it so much.

The clutch tends to squeak if it is not oiled every 3,000 miles. This started squeaking at 85,000 miles.

All of the things the car displays on the small computer are never right, like telling you to rotate the tires, when you have just had it done, and to change the oil filter, after a fresh oil change. It just helps not to read it when it seys stuff to you.

Most of the lights on the cluster will stay on all the time, it gets to be something that you don't pay attention to, but will cost thousands to fix.

About 70,000 miles, the radio stopped working and was just fuzz, so I managed to pick up, one at a junk yard, and it worked fine, accept one of its problems it had, as well as on the factory one, was that the tape would not be ejected when you wanted it to come out.

The paint started to peel very bad, all over the car at about 60,000 miles, and never seems to stop to this day. MACCO will take care of that if you don't intend to keep the car more than a few years.

The power steering almost stopped working and was very loud in cracking and creaking about 95,000 miles. It turns out that the reservoir for the fluid was leeking and almost empty. It needed more, and we have never had another problem.

The passenger shock and spring tend to rattle, when in the cold weather.

The seal on the power sunroof came off, and therefore water leaked into the car and caused the ceiling cover to come loose and hang.

The Parking brake calipers went out about 70,000 miles, and was $ 400.00 to fix. The parking cable also hung under the car when the parking brake was not set.

General Comments:

There has been no real mechanical problems with the car and it still runs good to this day.

I think it needs a bigger engine, than just 140 horses.

The car has handled wonderfully, and still does.

The car handles great in snow, and on bad road conditions.
