1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1L V6 from North America

Summary:

One troublesome hearthrob

Faults:

The transmission has a constant quirk.

The engine blew at 75,000 miles.

Hard to find aftermarket parts for.

Poor gas mileage.

Terrible factory stereo.

Fiberglass ground effects are very pricey.

Headlights are all one piece & expensive.

Who thought honeycomb wheels were a good idea?

General Comments:

Besides the fact that GM sucks as a service company, and I have multiple problems with the car, I love it. It's fast and with Flowmaster exhaust and K&N intake, it moves quickly with a stylish note. Replace the Delco stereo with Alpine, Infinity and Polk, and you can cruise in style.

You say you have a K and N intake... I've been looking for something like, but have been unable to find it for the 3.1 liter. Where did you get yours?

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.4 V6 from North America

Faults:

The alternator had to be replaced which was a real trick to do.

The ball joints lost their lubrication and had to be replaced.

Occasionally, this car doesn't turn when I turn the key. I can hear something click and everything electrical comes on as normal, but it doesn't turn?? After a minute or two of constant turning, it starts. This happens, maybe, once every 3 months.

Lately it hesitates when I give it gas and then I get a thrust of power. I'm in the process of figuring this one out.

General Comments:

Other than the small headaches, I love this car. I haven't added a thing to its appearance and it turns heads all the time. Often people are shocked to find out that it's a 1994 and not newer.

The power is excellent. Sometimes I unintentionally squeal the tires when I turn corners or accelerate.

The power sunroof does take away head room.

A definite quality vehicle.

The hesitation when you give it gas & then the sudden power sounds like your transmission is slipping.

I had a weird electrical problem on mine, too. After about 3-4 yrs of troubleshooting, replacing parts, switches and sensors, we discovered that a connector outside the fuse box was melted. You might try that to see if you have the same problem.

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

Looks, handles, and runs great!

Faults:

The temperature gauge broke recently.

The heavy doors need to be adjusted once in a great while.

General Comments:

This car is surprisingly quick for a 3.1, I've burned stock Mustangs below 98' a few times. I don't think you could get another car for the price that handles as great as this car does, not to mention how great the car looks.

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 160 bhp 3.1 SOHC from North America

Summary:

Good looks, semi good performance at a good price

Faults:

The inside trunk release doesn't work for some reason.

Fog lamps do not work, but I can't tell if it's a blown fuse or if the actual lamps are burnt.

General Comments:

Although it's only a 3.1L it can get the car moving fairly fast, I've seen her at 110 and nothing seemed to be out of the normal.

Sticks to the road very good.

Very comfortable in the front, roomy for even tall people.

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix LE 3.1L V-6 from North America

Summary:

All in all a great car

Faults:

Only complaint I had about this car, is speed, it shuts the engine down at 110.

I had to replace an alternator, but that was just from age.

General Comments:

It's great, with the factory sway bars, it has no body roll, I've been known to take corners that were posted at 15 or less going 50!

It has a great pickup, lots of people have challenged me to a race, and lost patheticly to this extremely fast, and agile car.
