It's actually a re badged Opel, fortunately Pontiac didn't have too much to do with it other than cheesy marketing.

The Chevrolet Cruze, which is based on a Daweoo design, is not a bad car. It appears that if not abused, Daewoos are not that bad, but not nearly on par quality wise with Hyundai (which has improved to pretty much being on a par with Ford quality-wise).

You must be my twin. I have a 1989 Pontiac LeMans, and I now have 99824 miles on it. I am self-employed from home, so I do not travel much... just an occasional trip to the grocery store, and to church. I am hoping to have it for another 23 years, and to get your kind of miles on it.

Yes... I definitely got my money's worth!!! A year later, it is still running strong at 222,000 miles and repainted too... although it really didn't need it!

I am responding to my own comments of June 28, 2011... as well as some follow up comments I made on May 2, 2012... All these years later... My 1989 Pontiac LeMans which I purchased new in October, 1988 is still running very well at 253,000 miles. I actually had it restored a little over a year ago and it looks mint. The engine and transmission are still original and running smoothly! I did have to replace the head gasket at 227,000 miles in 2012... but caught it immediately before any damage could occur! I think this car will out last me! Does anyone else still have one of these in use at this point???

Haven't seen one for a long long time. You have got one rare car now. Even looked it up on craigslist and not one to be found. I wonder how long that little car can go. The original price of that was about $7999.00 back in 1988/1989. You got your monies worth out of that.

The reason they are seldom seen now is because they did not sell that well when new, and they had very low resale value as used cars, so most went to the junkyard early.

So, although rare on the ground now, not particularly desirable.

I definitely did get my money's worth to be sure. I saw one on Ebay last year. It eventually sold for about $5600.00 as I recall. It was sold to a museum!!! You were right about the original price being $7999.00 back in 1989 too. Mine was marked at exactly $8000.00 at the time!!!
