1995 Pontiac Sunfire SE 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Nice, cheap transportation!

Faults:

Fuel filter (previous owner).

AC doesn't work - needs a recharge.

General Comments:

For the year of this car, I couldn't ask for anything better! She still looks new, sounds a little old because of a rattle - but she drives down the road like a new car!

Seats are comfortable and roomy. Just a nice car.

1995 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.3L quad4 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Personality at its best

Faults:

When I bought the car, it needed some things for safety.

Ball joint, brake cylinder, two tires, muffler.

Now that I have driven it for a few kilometers, nothing has gone wrong and it seems to be very reliable.

I have replaced the front brake rotors and pads. Originals were on there when I purchased the car.

General Comments:

I hope to fully restore this car, as it is very sex looking and has a lot of versatility.

Engine is VERY inconsistent in performance and gas mileage, but when it does perform, it gives lots of faster cars a good run.

It is an automatic, so flooring it is the fastest it will go.

Can't dump the clutch, nor race the engine from stop then go, or you'll destroy automatics.

Manual in this car would make the performance a 7 or 8. (for its class)

1995 Pontiac Sunfire SE 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Okay, haven't had long enough to determine

Faults:

A/C doesn't work.

All I hear here is people having problems with the A/C, but no comments on whether they got it fixed or not. I was just wondering what were the most common problems with the A/C compressor, wiring, leaking, recharging, etc.

Any Comments?

General Comments:

This car is seriously quick and handles like it's on rails.

1995 Pontiac Sunfire SE 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I love my 1995 Pontiac Sunfire

Faults:

My head gasket has to be replaced about every two years.

A couple years ago my starter went out.

At 100,000 miles I had my spark plugs and my fuel filter replaced.

The strap around my muffler was recently replaced because it was rusted through.

The rear view mirror fell off, and I had to have it reattached.

My cassette player has been broken for years, and one of the speakers is busted.

The air conditioning compressor broke two years ago.

My wiper switch fell apart and had to be replaced.

General Comments:

Overall, the things that have gone wrong with my car involve general maintenance or carelessness on my part.

The head gasket is a recall on the model Sunfire that I own, and although it is a bit annoying to have to spend out that much money to have it fixed, to me it is worth it, and it still costs a lot less than a car payment. Owning a car is very expensive, and mechanical work has to be done even on brand new cars.

I love my cat. It is very comfortable, dependable, and fuel efficient. I couldn't ask for a better car. It also has never stranded me except at home.

I wish they still made these cars, because I would get another one. I will keep this car even when I do purchase a new car, because I am certain I will never find a better, more reliable car.

General Motors/ Pontiac still do make the Pontiac Sunfire. It is just re-named to the G5.

Does it still use the same drive-train (motor/transmission)?

If it doesn't, it isn't still a Sunfire/Cavalier.

If it doesn't, it is a completely different car, that is why they changed the name.

Yes, it probably is what they replaced the Sunfire/Cavalier with.

1995 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 from North America

Summary:

For 1500$, it's the best car I've bought!

Faults:

Some problems with rear brakes... the usual

I had to change the fuel pump this winter... never been changed in 13 years... the usual.

General Comments:

I was not expecting too much for a 13 years car... And I was not expecting too much for one of the CHEAPEST cars on the market... I was not expecting a V6 performance for a little Sunfire motor. But it is the best car I've ever had. No unknown sound, the head gasket is in perfect condition... unplugged, it always started even at -50 celcius.

For 1500$, nobody could ask better than my car... openable roof, distance starter, beautiful stripes on the side. I love my car!
