"Nice car to drive, but terrible design fault on the drive belts"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

THE alternator tensioner failed, this caused the belt to snap. Taking the cam belt out as well!this caused lots of damage. About £900 to repair!

Annoying as I replaced the cam belt and tensioners only 2000miles ago.

General comments?

The car drives nice, quite comfy, but handling is a bit soft. Brakes are very strong.

I agree with the auxilliary belt problem, although my Laguna is a 1.8 RXE... back in Feb 04 I had the cam belt changed, and the auxilliary belt was inspected, and looked fine... 3 weeks later, part of the belt stripped off, got caught under the cam belt, and threw it out 2 notches... 8 new valves, and £500 later, it worked fine again.

Today, 16 months later, the new auxilliary belt again partly broke, and part of it went under the cam belt cover... engine died and wouldn't restart...I'm waiting to hear the news, but fearing the worst... : ( (

Definatly my last Renault...
