1987 Toyota Supra 3.0 In-Line 6 from North America

Summary:

Very fun to drive, and very quick, great value!!!

Faults:

Well, a few things were already wrong when I bought it, but I didn't know about them...

The Clutch needs to be replaced.

Master Cylinder may need to be replaced.

As well as lots of body damage to front and rear (since car has been in my week and a 1/2 of ownership)

General Comments:

I am 16, and this is my first car! Okay, I am positively convinced that this Supra is cursed!

It all started, when I had had the car for three days, and some jerk comes and rear-ends me going 40MPH, while I am sitting at a stoplight. He hit me so hard, that I was pushed into the car in front of me, causing more damage to the front than there was to the back! I didn't have insurance, but I hadn't been driving the car, only to school, which isn't very far from where I live, and on this particular day, I didn't have school, and I was taking the car to have it inspected by a mechanic, two-blocks away!

Anyway, the car was considered totalled, because of all of the body damage, but still ran great. So, I continued to drive the car to school, and three days after the first accident, I was leaving my driveway to go to school, and some woman scrapes along the front of it, as I am leaving, causing more damage to the already bad front of the Supra, but tons of damage to her new car. So, after all of this, the headlights would no longer flip-up, so as I was trying to prop them up, the motor came on for no reason, and pinned my hand in between the bottom of the headlight and the frame of the car, almost breaking it! Then, when I was getting out of it, the door cut my hand and I was bleeding all over the place.

Also, I have just found out recently that the car was totalled in 1997 by it's second owner, and repaired, but not put on the title (i have no idea how that happened) the owner did not disclose to me this information, so now I can't get my money back... And remember, this has all happened in la little over one week of ownership!

Well, as for everything else about the car.

It handles VERY well.

It is VERY fast.

The ride is wonderfully smooth, Similar to a Cadillac's ride.

The interior is very comfortable.

All of the instrumentation and features work on mine, it is a prime example.

I absolutely love this car! Although I am now afraid to drive it, so I don't...

Not lecturing, but at only 16 driving without insurance and if you injure/kill someone... you or especially your parents allowing you too... may lose everything. Its not ever worth the risk. I bought a car at 16 myself spent 2 years getting it safe and then got it on the road legally. I borrowed my paents insured vehicles in the interim. Good luck!

The only major thing wrong to date with the car is the clutch went out.

I love this car. It handles like none other. For being seventeen years old it still out performs my dads Integra and my friends Pontiac GTO.

You say it's a good car in your review - however you rated it pretty poorly.

I don't think he rated it an unhappy blue face, I think readers rated poorly because his entry is so short.
