1987 Toyota Supra non turbo from North America

Summary:

Has turned me into a Supra maniac

Faults:

My head gasket went the year I got car. Appeared owner, prior to me, had put fix it stuff in to make it good for awhile. After I had head gasket fixed by a real mechanic, the engine has been excellent.

Other things have been general wear and tear things for a car with 175,000 miles on it.

General Comments:

Even with the head gasket problem I have truly enjoyed and loved driving this car.

Excellent performance and handling.

The seats are so comfortable I want to have them in every car I own. Prior car (VW Golf) was totally uncomfortable.

People may complain about service cost, but I find myself having to be at a garage a lot less with this car, than any other car I have owned.

Summary:

I Love It!!

Faults:

I bought my supra over the summer... it is the best car I have ever had... I love it and I'm never going to sell it unless I have to. The leather is starting to wear, but what do you expect from a 16 year old car... That's all the trouble I've had... Love It!!!

General Comments:

I Love it and want to buy a newer model also.!!!

1987 Toyota Supra 7M GTE turbo from North America

Summary:

I will never sell this car

Faults:

The head gasket went out and head was warped (repairable) at 112,000 miles, however this was my fault, driving in the red.

The AC compressor went out at 75,000, also I replaced the radiator, one power steering hose, the steering rack, front wheel bearings, a power window switch, and speedometer cable and that's it in 15 years and 202,000 miles.

General Comments:

I am the original owner and did bolt on engine modifications to 315 horsepower at around 20,000 miles. Now at 202,000 miles this car has proven itself to be extremely reliable, also attributable to good maintenance and synthetic fluids throughout for the last 13 years.

It still has the original clutch and runs very strong.

1987 Toyota Supra 3.0 non turbo from North America

Summary:

A fun RWD 200hp car for $5000.00

Faults:

Bought the car from original owner who drove it lightly and took care of it. He had all the reciets of service and repairs, so I paid high blue book. I thought the clutch would need replaced since it had over 100k miles on her, but after taking it apart it looked barely used. Put a new centerforce II clutch in any way. Also replaced brakes, radiator, t'stat, and installed a K&N air filter. Then the head gasket went. Coolant kept overflowing reservoir.

I did the job myself and it cost me less than $200.00. Used Fel-Pro gaskets and shaved head 0.012" for $50.00. Every thing else on car is tight and working great.

General Comments:

Although I have spent almost another 1k to get this car in good reliable shape again, I still feel like I got a great deal for a car of this level. This car is generally easy to work on, will probably last another 100k miles with minimal problems, and is a blast to drive hard. To me this is a lot of car for the money. You get 4 wheel vented disk brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension with shocks not struts, and it is rear wheel drive so it doesn't torque steer. I feel safe driving this car too (weighs 3500#), and it has some front end to it, not like some of those front drive boxes on the road.

1987 Toyota Supra nn-Turbo 3.0 Inline 6 from North America

Summary:

The best car I have ever owned!!!

Faults:

I have only had a few things go wrong with the car since I have bought it.

The rear end leaks fluid a little bit it has done it since I bought it.

The power steering pump hose also exploded on me one day, but was an easy fix.

General Comments:

I have loved this car since I have bought it. It is a fairly fast car and I hope to do some engine mods to it. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get more torque out of a NA engine please let me know. E-mail me at Snomo292@aol.com Also if anyone has any pictures of their supra painted a different color please send it to me.
