World Street Nationals? Whatever. Is this the same 'world' as in World Series Baseball? World as in only the US? Come over to Europe if you have the power to back up the talk. Be careful though. Our drag strips don't run downhill.
I might go to "the world street nationals." You're car have to be street legal or else you can't race. However, all cars there are v8 and are capable of over 200 mph- 7 sec 1/4 mile and it's street legal, just to see what it's like. I'm assuming "the world street nationals." You're car have to be street legal or else you can't race. However, all cars there are v8 and are capable of over 200 mph- 7 sec 1/4 mile and it's street legal is pretty much the same as top fuellers at pod? Obviously I wouldn't go against them in a Supra cos that'd be silly, which is probably why you don't get Supras at "the world street nationals." You're car have to be street legal or else you can't race. However, all cars there are v8 and are capable of over 200 mph- 7 sec 1/4 mile and it's street legal.
What's all this about lag as well, how on earth does the layout of an engine affect the amount of time a turbo takes to produce full boost? That's determined by the size of the impeller and inlet/outlet ports of the turbo. If you mean the effective rev range of boost from the turbo (which is what it sounds like) then the TWIN turbo will always produce boost sooner than a single whether it's a V8 or not!
Anyway, V8s for straights, Supra's for corners.
See you at "the world street nationals." You're car have to be street legal or else you can't race. However, all cars there are v8 and are capable of over 200 mph- 7 sec 1/4 mile and it's street legal.
Why do you keep writing.
"You're car have to be street legal or else you can't race. However, all cars there are v8 and are capable of over 200 mph- 7 sec 1/4 mile and it's street legal"
So many times in that post? Are you insecure, compensating, what?
For the attention of the guy that keeps pasting the same old about the "American World Street National something or other":
For pities sake correct your grammar and spelling!
You do not spell your as 'you're' and add apostrophe s after V8!
And have needs to be changed to HAS!!! FFS.
I have finally found this event, http://www.speedworlddragway.com/
However correct me if I'm wrong, but the imports seem to be in a different category?
http://www.battleoftheimports.com/home.html.
(under import races)
Crazy yehaaa yeeah I'm so insular I only buy American! yeeaaa!
Clarkson (a Top Gear presenter in the UK) raced the stock Ford GT round a track - he got 4mpg - basically your FULL tank of enriched fuel will be empty in about 65 miles (useless in a circuit race). Oh and also, Clarkson brought London to a standstill cos he couldnt fit the lumbering beast over a central london bridge so the police had to come in to redirect traffic stuck behind him. He sold his beloved GT right after taking stock cos the alarm wouldn't stop.
Right so you guys reckon a drag strip defines a car rather than a circuit... so why then call it "WORLD" "STREET RACE" - whhaaaaattt??? It should be called the McKee-Dee's Big Yankee Drag Race.
It is all about power to weight + handling - that's a sports car. Not a 5 tonne growler with no handling ability with cheap hollow interiors.
Easy,
D.
Sorry I forgot that you guys are form a third world country and are ignorant about real raw power. Over here in USA, supra TT are condsidered weak and a sportscar wannabe. No offense. A stock z0-6 corvette (198 mph top speed) will outperform a supra TT on ANY corner or straight line. Supra is just no match and that's a fact from legitimate test like road and track magazines- unlike your test- teenager crowd. You guys just can't admitt that the supra is not a true sportscar. Yeah, can't race a fully modified supra with the big v8's because supra is too weak and won't even qualify. Check out the "WORLD STREET NATIONALS" and see the ET figures- six second 1/4 mile v8's!! In the USA, Supra are for teens!!
Alright, finally someone in you couintry have found the site. Check it out! http://www.speedworlddragway.com/
None of you are original. This argument has been had world over, displacement/technology etc. It's all what you prefer to drive, follow and support. Supra, or V8, whatever, support it passionately without putting down the other. For example, any V8 will not achieve the 'Drift' Status that the 200SX or Silvia has. On the other hand, large low tech V8's will never be beaten on the Drag strip, due to the capacity and development that has gone into them.
Grow up, support your own car likes, and leave other people to their own.
P.s. in Australia, Fords turbo six has more torque than any of the US V8's in our sedans (and can be modified easier)
Drifting is for the teen crowd. Adults in the USA are laughing at it. It's kid stuff!
For the Australian six banger, check out this site and look a the "street nationals",then " elimination results." Take your six cylinder and race it with the 6.5 second, 1/4 mile street cars. You guys make me laugh! A 1963 corvette's 1/4 mile result is 227.84 mph on a 1/4 mile- yes, it's street legal!

I wish I can have a 1996 mk4.I like that car a lot.
I have a 1983 supra mk2 and a Merkur xr4ti I like my cars to.
I Like the striate mortars to work on.
People get mad when you compare the two.
Not me I like all cars for me it is fun to make your own car nice.
I do not see why people will get mad when FORD WORKS WITH MAZDA AND GM WITH TOYOTA AND DODGE WITH MITSIBISHI.
We all now that they all make good cars. Why dis someone for the car that they have.We all no that a 3.0l supra at 26psi and a 5.0l ford at 26psi is not a match the ford will win. That is if the cars wear the same on all other parts.
Do not be a player hater and hate car then you are not a car guy.
Dude...I don't know what you guys are fighting about... stock on stock American v8s and imports will match up pretty even... it all depends on what you put under the hood. American cars are heavier and bigger, but in turn they have bigger engines... imports are small and lightweight with smaller engines. I have a 2000 z28, and I would get my ass handed to me almost by any import...v8's definitly need mods, because the power potential is there you just need a boost (turbo, supercharger, nos) Imports cars are just a totally different principle... its all about the weight and getting as much out of a smaller engine. You can argue all day about who's faster American or imports... and in the end it all comes down who's stock and who's not.
And the 198 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 sec z-06 corvette not a lightweight car? It will beat the supra TT by far on straight and slalom- Stock supra TT's top speed is 150 mph and 0-60 in 5.2 sec. and there's too much lag! Too much LAG! Now is that equally fast? Do the math! Modify to modify? Imports don't even qualify to compete with the big v8s. It'll be in a different lower class. In America, pro stock street cars can go up to 227 mph in 6.4 sec. on the track. And yes, it's street legal.
I read all the post here and what I can't figure how did this post turn into a forum where people argue about who's Camaro or Firebird will smoke Supra? This is suppose to be a source for people where you can see whether it is the car you want or not. And by the way, why compare Supra to a V8 muscle car? Take the Mustang, it's the car that is also available with 6 cylinder 3.8 liter engine. Even if you mod the mustang it will still be crap and loose to a Supra. I see no reason comparing V8 MUSCLE cars to a Supra here on this site. I'm also looking to purchase a stock Supra TT and trying to do a research on the car before buying, but frankly this specific section is just a silly forum-like discussion. If you want to argue who's car is fastest and compare totaly different vehicles then get a decent high-speed connection, purchase a forum and run on your PC. Create yourself a domain name and post it here one last time, so that people who can't control their emotions, like the guy who keeps talking about World Street Nationals, can go crazy there and keep this website clean. I believe that many would agree with me that this is not a place for what you have been doing for many pages.
And people who own Camaros and Firebirds, why are you here? I'm not a genius, but Toyota has nothing to do with your American cars. Why don't you argue who's Camaro can beat who's Firebird? This is ridiculous to read how grown men compare a Civic to a Taurus (maybe not a very good comparison, but you get the point). So please keep the site clean and use the forums for that, they were created for people like you. Thanks, hope this will end.
