2000 Volkswagen Golf GTi review from UK and Ireland
"Solid performance with scope for improvement"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Seats shown wear on bolsters which are oversized due to being Recaros, and tilt handle coming off.
Rear light lenses misting up.
Drivers door dropped slightly causing damage to paint work.
Car has been in 6 times for these simple faults. All under warranty.
General comments?
Despite having terrible problems with my previous Golf GTI (non turbo) I love this car.
It needs to be lowered and have stiffer suspension and the engine is crying out for a performance upgrade, Its near silent inside and the build quality is superb.
I would definitely buy another Golf, the only downside is the dealers.
The office staff are OK, but the technicians seem to be little more than semi-trained apes who can never fix the slightest of faults 1st time.
