What things have gone wrong with the car?

Exhaust manifold was cracked.

Heater fan resistor

Thermostat.

General comments?

I recently purchased a very clean Wrangler YJ with 91,000 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was very well equiped;hard top, air conditioning, tilt wheel, sound bar, splash graphics etc. I was amazed at how well the interior and exterior had held up over seven years. The interior appears absolutely brand new. Showing no wear whatsoever. The paint is glossy and show no signs of cracking or peeling.

Mechanically the vehicle appears to have been well maintained. Starting and running like new. My Wrangler is a fun ride, with my only complaints being the creaks and rattles within the interior. But hey this is a Jeep!

To me, the Wrangler is a very well made, tough vehicle which should never be confused with a luxury ride. It can go places most other vehicles can't, and it can brave the toughest of driving conditions. The six cylinder engine has plenty of power, and I enjoy the five-speed transmission coupled with the 4 liter. It's a fun combo.

People should go into buying a Jeep knowing what it is. It's not a four-wheel-drive Camry, nor a Miata.

Owning a Jeep can be a great experience.

A year and a half after trading my little 1995 YJ for a 2003 TJ, I still miss it. That was the best little Wrangler

I've ever owned! Sure it was a bit crude, but it was tough reliable, and easy to work on.

I am the original poster.

Well I finally went back to a YJ and I am loving it.

I never should've traded in my '95, so I went out and found another clean '95 complete with the "Splash" graphics.

Let's hope this one serves me well!

I just purchased a 95 SE Wrangler about three months ago, and have never had more fun! The person who owned it before me replaced the exhaust with a stainless Borla kit from the headers to the exhaust pipe, as well as added a short shifter and a cold air intake. This Jeep was his baby, but when he moved to LA he couldn't take it with him and I was the lucky recipient. The Only problem I have had is a broken rear shock mount which was easily welded back together. It has 135,000 on it and runs like the day it came off the showroom floor.

You must have the 4.0 liter engine, huh?

What a great engine.

I agree, mine just turned 132k miles and also runs like new.

Currently I'm about to put a 1 1/2" lift kit on, and go a little crazy with some stainless steel (bumpers etc.) as well as a nice 6 speaker sound bar.

I didn't want to go crazy on the lift, as I want to maintain

a decent highway ride, but wanted to go with a nice suspension system.

Hopefully it will turn out to be a good choice.

The 1995 Wranglers are my favorites.

It is the last year of the AMC designed YJ & the last leaf-sprung Wranglers.

It seems after that (& continuing thru today) Chrysler has softened the Wrangler for mainstream buyers, which may indeed increase sales, but at the cost of ruggedness, simplicity & individuality.

If I wanted a highway cruising SUV I'd buy a Lexus RX, but I'm happy bouncing around in my YJ!
