Too bumpy when tyres meet potholes. Tried to flatten my tires a bit, but steering became a bit too heavy, have to pump it back to normal.
Feel like falling to the sides when making a turning at 40-50 Km/h.
My boot door can't be opened using keys at times, need to push in a bit to in order to twist my key. Need to fix in my next service.
Engine feels VERY hot when I came out from the car, maybe engine compartment is too small for air flow due to this high performance TwinCam engine.
Quite okay torque for an automatic, but after replacing the 3 new racing spark plug, my car accelerate from stop-to-go in mere seconds. Most useful for me when coming out from traffic light stops. Quite a torqe monster, but not recommended for high speed driving, unless the car has been lowered 2 inches and tyres change to 165*55*15. Then, it would be a speed and torque monster. Nice combo...
Accessories are more than enough, quite satisfy with all the items, though I can't use the built-in hands free car kit for it only fit old Nokia phones, doesn't fit my Nokia 6610 though, what a waste.
Pleasure drive and easy handling, I don't have to worry letting my gf drives it.
Regarding the your comment on cornering like swaying or falling to the sides at 40 or some km/hour it's perfectly normal because the design and quality of the shock absorber's and spring are of only average grade. Otherwise the price of the kelisa would definately goes higher if the Perodua were to factory install a high performance one.
I too own a kelisa and I have change to full set shock absorber and spring's of a reputable brand and also have install a good front strut bar. It work's beautifully, the ride is comfortable and assuring, the corner's are taken with full confident at almost any speed, the noise and harshness level reduce's too. Overall my kelisa is more safer, comfortable and no more falling or swaying to the side's.The engine is wonderfull in standard form.
YOu pay for what you get.
I don't think what you say is true. I paid for what I did not get! Add a few thousand more I can get a fully imported peugeot 206 1.4 (S$59k vs S$50k for the kelisa) - so why is the junk perodua so expensive? Also a CBU cheverolet spark retails for S$45k and is much higher spec and twice as economical as the kelisa. I can't even sell my car for half its price coz nobody wants it. I'm really gonna lose big time. And don't even start to say that the kelisa is better than the 206 coz the 206 is leagues and generations ahead and as economical as well. Kelisas are just rubbish and just another gimmick from perodua. I'm changing to a 2nd hand 206 now. Just continue to cheat yourselves that the kelisa is a good car.
Man you are comparing both cars in different category... if you think that getting 206 is better than kelisa then why do you made a choice of buying Kelisa?
Apparently, S45K is double than RM45K. That clearly shows that you are comparing cars in different category. I do a lot outstation travelling. Just do the basic service check before travelling, thats all. It just feels superb even on high speed and overtaking. Infact, I did not do any modification from its orginal self plus no accident. So, its quiet and smooth. Kelisa is known for its stability, fuel economic, exceleration, colour and price. The gadgets are just an add on. Just remember, that always put a car for a good strong test drive before making decision. However, it all boils down to what you wish to see in a car and how you take care of it.
Kelisa is a very average/good car for it's price in my opinion. I've too own a kelisa. Just change into performance springs and absorber, strut the chasis, change to 15x6 rims. Walla!~ a good road gripping and quite car. Now I've put a bolt-on turbo (DT04) in it. Much torque/power been squeeze out of it now. I'm now scared to push the car hard!~ ;)
What I love most about my Kelisa is that it is fuel economic and easy to handle. What I don't like most about it is that the brake and gas pedals are at an angle which is too high. You literally have to bend your foot upwards and after a while, that can get really tiring. If your seat is close to the steering wheel, your leg would suffer (because of the small foot space plus the weird angle your foot has to be placed on the pedal), if you push the seat back to relax your leg, you really have to stretch your arms to reach the steering wheel. I find it difficult to find a comfortable position when driving.
When buying a car do yr homework guys... test drive the car well in order to find a comfortable journey. not all car suite our taste... budget & our body size does matter not to forget our interest. It may b quite simillar in term of price compare to other model, but end of the day are we buying the car for sporty?fast?economy or design. All dis got to look into consideration. For me kelisa is a good. Might as well I buy
Evo 9 thinking about performance. It's a matter of how you take care of the car. Imagine a small barrel U wanna look so big. Our imagination will make kelisa a nicer car provided we know wat we want. End of the day is, must be within our budget. Right guys...
I think the kelisa is a boring and Unimaginative car. It was made with no thought or passion it was just made to make money. I think whoever likes this car or any other perodua car has something wrong with their brain. they are all boxy, boring, and make you want to gauge out your eyes.
I own a kelisa 1.0 auto and I think many of us don't have the luxury of buying a car which looks glamourous or sporty. What we want is a car which doesn't tax the pocket too much in terms of price or maintenance cost. And in this regard, the kelisa scores top marks. You buy something like an alfa romeo, you will have to fork out a lot more throughout the life of the car. All for the sake of looking good on the road. Boxy or not, there are already so many kelisas on the road. That says something about the quality and cost of the car. If you have a lot of spare cash lying around, of course go ahead and get something which will impress the chicks. The rest of us have to be more practical.
Hi, Kelisa's driver.. I would like to get the Kelisa as I want to minimise my outgoing pocket money on my current Proton Saga. I need sincere advised before I decided to fish one.
1) What's the differences between the Manual and Auto kelisa?
2) What's the petrol consumtion like? (How much full tank & how many km can it go)
3) What is the power if full loaded of 4?
4) Current price going at $33900, is it the best time for me to get the Kelisa now?
5) I understand it does not come with spare tyres.. any owner experience punctured tyre before?
6) How do you guys find the safety features? eg:breakes, lightings and etc..
Kindly drop me your sincere advise please..
Hi, I'm one of the Kelisa owner (my Kelisa is the 2003 Kelisa Auto - the old model before they change the accessories). I'd been using it for nearly three years (complete 3 years coming this June) for extensive daily travelling to and from Skudai - Pasir Gudang for work. I'd been travelling with this car as far as Raub, Pahang and as high as Genting (the cable car spot).
So far, this is an economical car that I love most. Although a bit small, but yet powerful. I'm not too sure about the manual version as I'd not drive any of it before. A full tank equals to an approximate of 40 litres of fuel and I'd been driving to Melaka from Skudai with a little bit less than 1/2 tank.
A full load of 4 person will make it a bit slow for a start. But once move, the momentum is there. Anyway, it all depends on the weight of load that you bring in.
I believe that's a reasonable price. However, the kelisa that I purchased before comes with a spare tyre. Guess you gotta check with other dealers.
Safety features is OK with me. That's it.
Hi, I'm a kelisa owner too. Just bought it last year August. It is good in term of fuel saving and enough power to move your from the start, especially when the traffic light is turned to green, you will find no car is leading you.
Every time going to somewhere else, especially town area whereby hard to find a parking lot, you will then realise how good a compact car is.
For all kelisa owner, love your baby and keep it well as I doing.
I also got a kelisa EZI (auto) too! It is a nice car. I have been owned it for 2 years. Currently, it is still performing very well. Absolutely you have to make car service in every certain period and drive safety (i mean not crazy driving). "What you pay and what you get" but for me, I think that I get more than I pay.
For those people are looking for the reviews of kelisa to comparing with the other car, here I will going to recommend you that kelisa will be your choice. Just go a head to get it.
Sincerely, Perodua Kelisa is really a good car, please don't miss it!!
Best Regards,
samljtuan
I own a year 2004 1.0L Limited Edition Royal Blue Kelisa, the later 2 toned version with different bumper trimmings. Being the Limited Edition, my ‘Blue Fish’ comes with something extra in comparison to the standard specs; 2 toned, leather seats and 14x4.5JJ alloy rims.
As a stock Kelisa, it has the basic drivability, maneuverability and stability of its category and size. Being a compact car, it has served well by allowing swift maneuverability in tight corners and turns, enabling easier parking and better parking opportunities and still performs rather well with its wide ranged torque transmission without high rev. It is of course not a sports car, considering that it has only 65 bhp in a 806 kg body, churning a maximum torque of 88.3 kN/mm at 3600 rpm. It is still a fuel saver car.
However, being a motor sports fan myself, I couldn’t use my car as it is, especially when my driving style requires a higher grade performance and control. I have to date upgraded the stock suspension system to a performance system by GAB, to give me a better stability in cutting through corners and slopes at higher speeds. Just for a ‘small kick’ in the performance aspect, I replaced the standard air filter to the K&N drop-in mesh filter and it gives me a better response to throttle control and power deliverance from the engine. I have yet to replace the extractor and exhaust system, but I believe I will soon do that once I am out of my warranty period. Yeah, that’s also just for performance. The other gadgets that I have put in are a voltage stabilizer and some extensive grounding to the electrical system of the car to regularize the power distribution of the car to its different components, i.e. usually an extensive build up of the audio system: ICE
At the moment I believe I am a happy driver and owner of a compact car like the Perodua Kelisa. I strongly believe that it is a car worth its price and has a value to its practicality and economy. Price wise, worth while in Malaysia especially not having other good choice of compact cars.
I'm an owner of the standard manual GXi version...
I'm lost count on how many times I beat the wiras - especially at Karak...
Tips at Karak - just use 3rd& 4th (if necessary) gear... recommend 3rd on downhill especially after the tunnel (from karak to gombak)...beat everthing even the wira's...hehehehe...not bad for a 1.0 against the 1.6.
