Nothing! I haven't had it long, but so far so good.
Most comfortable vehicle I've ever been in.
Impressive pickup for what you expect from the size of this beast.
All-purpose vehicle. Long trips short trips I'm taking this van.
I bought this van for $2700 with 85000 miles on it, and after looking at others, this one seemed like a baby with at least another 100000 miles to go on it.
I didn't know if I'd like a conversion van living in N.Y.C. with its size and gas mileage, but this thing has been awesome.
It was sitting in the previous owners driveway for a while, so it had some minor rust spots and a leak somewhere in the roof. I siliconed the entire seam of the high-top cap, which stopped the leaking, but I still get a few drips in real heavy rains.
I've taken the middle 2 captain seats out to make it a temporary cargo van to move some furniture for a day.. This van was made for shopping with a huge amount of space behind the sofa/bed in the back.
Everyone at first thinks I'm nuts for getting it. Then, when they get inside they love it. I was just going to use this one to see if I would want a new one, but after reading all the other reviews, I think this van is going to be around for another 11 years. It starts right up every time and feels like it has plenty of power too. All I did to it was change the VCR for a DVD player. I saw a lot of people getting those huge oversized luxury SUVs and thought maybe I should get one? Now I've got something better.
These vans were around way before them, and they'll be around way after them. I got mine for about a tenth of the price, and all of the luxury and comfort.
I have a 1994 with 155,000 miles. Rebuilt the transmission at a cost of about $2000 8 thousand miles ago.
I concur with your comments, my van passes California Smog with no problems. I figure she'll go at least 200,000, then I'll put in a rebuilt engine and drive the wheels off her.
A great vehicle, and I get an honest 20 mpg on the highway, better than my 4.0 liter Ford Explorer with a V-6. Van has the 5.7 liter Vortec.
I have a 1993 Chevy high top 5.7l (Tiara motor coach) conversion van. I'm getting the 14.7 almost 15mpg that it's supposed to get in the city but not the 19mpg on the highway. As a matter of fact I'm getting 14.1mpg/HW, less than my city mpg. I think I have a bad rear axle. Other than that, it's very comfortable and has around 260,000 miles on the engine, give or take 10,000.
I have a mint 1990 Chevrolet DC Conversion, and it runs like new. I also have a new GM SUV and it is hard to choose what to drive between the 2.
I just put a larger flat screen color TV directly over the former recessed TV area, and added DVD. With the Duracell 600 box in the back, I can run both for up to 7 hours without running the engine. Great on long trips. I have dual battery setup from the factory and do not even use anymore unless I want to leave the overhead lighting on for a while.
In spite of gas pricing, this is a fantastic vehicle to own... great seating, comfort, pull next to a lakefront, beach or even a park and watch TV/DVD instead of being stuck at home. I have a new radiator, brakes, tires, and other than having it detailed, that's the extent of its repairs. I also have the tow package.
I am very impressed as well with the factory Conversion Cadillac Ditzler paint, which still looks great after 18 years.
I have a 1995 Midway Chevy conversion van with a 5.7 engine, and 4 speed transmission w/OD. I have 121,000 hard miles on it. By hard, I mean three trips from New Jersey to Anchorage, Alaska and back without any problems other than two flat tires and a few paint chips on the lower running boards. I keep it tuned and serviced regular. I only use Quaker State oil and have had no problems. It gets around 20 mpg +-. Engine has never been opened and no leaks anywhere. I plan on keeping it for a very long time. This van has never let me down.
