Firstly is your car manual or auto? If it is a manual, then get any drive train noise checked out thoroughly; the 02 -07 Cruze has a history of gearbox issues.

I have reconditioned many of them over the last 7 years, and believe me when I say it is a lot easier and cheaper to fix the issues when the gearbox first starts to develop a noise, as opposed to when it literally explodes. I have heard of countless times that mechanics diagnose the noise to be C.V. joints (drive shaft), and replace them, only to have the noise still remain.

If anyone needs any more info. or advise, then please don't hesitate to email me at wakeline@adam.com.au. I'm only too happy to help, or if you know of any old dead boxes, then I would be very interested in buying them...

Regards, Gary.

I know this is an old post.. You can pick up CV /driveshafts for $125 on ebay for the YG Cruze, Chevy or Holden. Beware, a Holden/Chevy is not an Ignis.

I have a Holden Cruze and it was only ever intended to be a stop gap car before I get my next car. I had it at the mechanics to replace front brake pads and machine the rotors. When he took it for a test drive, he commented that the CV joint on the front passenger side needed replacing. I feared an expensive fix, but a friend of mine who has a car wrecking business tracked down a complete axle with CV joints and rubber boots in place. I was happy that the new axle only cost me $170 from Bursons and the mechanic quoted me a one hour job worth $80. At first I was reluctant to do the fix, but then I read somewhere that if the CV joint fails completely, then all 4 wheels can lock up and that can be disastrous at any speed. My advice is for safety's sake get it fixed and shop around for the best price. Good luck!

PS I love that little Cruze, the only problem is that if I park in a big car park it is very hard to find as most other cars that I park next to make it very hard to find.
