1996 Chevrolet Blazer LT review from North America
"If you want a city/off road 4X4 with luxury at a good price, this is it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car tends to use brake pads up often, but they are easy to get to and like all front disk breaks are easy to replace.
The leather on the drivers seat tends to poke a hole by the electronic control panel and it was replaced once in warranty. The last time this happened I had a private leather interior man replace it and put in a plastic guard. cost was only $100.00.
It rides like a truck, which it is, and rattles some on bumpy roads, but not much.
The air-conditioner control panel in the dash requires complete replacement even if only a single part is out. This costs about $150.00.
General comments?
I have found that by taking the car in, but not to the dealer, every 3,000 miles, I have gotten excellent service out of this car.
It does require that the 4X4 front and rear differentials require service, but only every 25-30,000 miles. I have never had a problem with it. I highly recommend the electronic 2WD to 4WD changer - which I have never had a problem with either.
You have to remember that it is a truck, which means no fast turns, but it handles well on the freeway and the street.
It is under powered, and needs a small V8 rather than the V6, but that is a federal problem concerning the number of V8's a company can put out re smog emission standards for a line of cars.
