1992 Toyota MR2 G Limited review from Australia and New Zealand
"Best Bang for your bucks if FUN is what your after"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Targa leaks.
The old owner put 205/55/15s at the rear which made it tail happy. It should be 225/55/15s. I've changed it back to the right tyres now.
General comments?
This car is insanely FUN. I also own an AE93 Corolla hatch with a 4AGZE supercharged engine in it (170Hp). Although the MR2 is not as fast (only 165Hp with more weight to carry) its dynamics are by far superior to the Corolla. It corners like a go-cart and when you corner too hard it feels like the rear wants to slip, but somehow it always hangs on for another few km/h. (most normal or even slighty enthusiastic people will never get anywhere near this limit) This car scares the hell out of me as I'm not use to RWD let alone Midengine RWD, but that's why I love this car sooo much. It is not for the faint hearted and 0-100km/h in 7.3sec is not supercar fast, but enough to get you into trouble. (Once I master this car, I will put on the 3SGTE out of the MR2 turbo and get some REAL power out of it!!)
Conclusion:
If your after a cheap, realiable, good looking, but more importantly, "FUN" car that will leave a stupid grin on your face everytime you get out of it, buy this car!! You'll never look back..
