1997 Ford Contour review from North America
"A mule would be a more reliable means of transportation"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My first problem was only a head light switch recall.
Secondly, there was a recall on the brakes.
Third recall was the heater blower resistor.
My check engine light repeatedly comes on.
The fuel pump has been replaced.
The thermostat and mass air-flow sensor has been replaced.
The timing belt and idler have been replaced.
My car now idles low.
General comments?
I am the sole owner of my Contour. I have driven it for five years and put only 58,800 miles on it. The ford service has run out of parts to replace, so now they would like me to pay for a transmission.
Ever since they put on a new timing belt, my car has idled low. After two weeks, Ford cannot find the problem. So
now it could be the transmission.
In five months, my car has had $1000.00 worth of new parts. Unfortunately, it does not run properly now. I refuse to spend any more money on a Ford.
This was my second Ford Contour, but I didn't own the first one long enough to
learn my lesson. I have learned it now.
