1999 Chevrolet Silverado LX review from North America
"Not reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
ABS EBCM appears to be defective at 44k miles.
Had to have Power Window regulator motors replaced (both sides) at 40k miles.
Intermediate steering shaft have to be replaced at 40K miles.
Tailgate straps replaced at 44k miles.
Parking brake is poorly designed and wears out prematurely (even if it gets no use!).
General comments?
What's upsetting about the above is that model year after model year GM trucks have these problems and no permanent fixes were made. Type in the year and model and see that it appears everyone is experiencing the same problems, but GM won't stand behind their product. They're awfully good at issuing TSB's for chargeable repairs for many of the above items!!!
I believe this will be my last GM Truck. Not that they all (car manufacturer's) don't have quality issues, but not on a reoccurring basis such as GM.
Then they wonder why they're losing market share to Toyota, Honda, etc... They just don't get it...
