2001 Hyundai XG300 L

Faults:

When I purchased the car, the transmission was replaced under warranty.

General Comments:

This car has been a pleasure to drive. It has only become a problem after I hit 180,000 miles.

The air bag light has come on, and I get a random check engine light when it rains.

Recently I have been getting an TCS ABS light whenever I park the car. Once I get going, I need to re-start the car in order to clear the light. The light will randomly come on when driving, but I need to restart the car to get the light to turn off. Does anyone have a similar problem, and do you have any idea what causes this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I get the light on every week, then it goes off and comes back, as well as the check engine light with the same P codes that were fixed. Usually the check engine light comes on after getting gas.

The oil light comes on after making sharp turns.

Radio stations won't stay on unless a CD is in.

The current mileage is 118,000.

I'm in the New Jersey area.

Probably just a loose gas cap if it's after filling up. Just crank it really good when closing it, and that should help.

2001 Hyundai XG300 EX

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I have owned this car for 11 years, and it has been a dream machine. No major problems except with the sound panel, and the air conditioning fan. I adore it, and recently bought a Sonata and gave the car to my son. We pamper it, get regular work done before something happens, and work to keep the interior in perfect condition.

I would buy another tomorrow if I had the money. The new version of it was out of my price range.

2001 Hyundai XG300 V6

Summary:

Worth the money

Faults:

Purchased at 77K.

Driver seat leather is beginning to stray 80K.

Mass air flow sensor caused the car to refuse to start at 96K.

Transmission input-speed sensor failure at 101K.

General Comments:

General maintenance on this vehicle is kept up to date, ALL general maintenance.

This car is FANTASTIC! The sports shifting defiantly hesitates, but it handles with precision.

No SERIOUS issues at 101,000. Its paint still has its shine and it gleams after just a washing.

The interior is spacious and comfortable, and with the exception of the driver's seat, all leather is still in VERY good condition.

No power problems, as this V6 with 184hp will get up and go!

I love this car. I have owned a BRAND NEW cars before, but buying this with cash outright for the $5500 (Feb.2008) has been far a better deal!

My husband and I both love the look of the vehicle so much we have discussed measures to keep it even far beyond the transmission and timing belt. When it gets there.

2001 Hyundai XG300

Summary:

Great value!!

Faults:

Front interior lights both are now out

Stereo.. keeps switching back and forth from FM to CD, even when we have no disc in.

Rear suspension.. recently had it in the shop twice to correct skipping to the right over bumps. This is still a problem. Any thoughts from other owners appreciated.

General Comments:

Overall very happy with this car. Excellent value for the price we paid!! Other cars we looked at in the same price range were base model Cavalier, Neon. You get the picture, no real fair comparison as the XG is fully loaded with all power options and heated leather.

2001 Hyundai XG300 3.0L V6

Summary:

Comfy, big car

Faults:

Absolutely nothing.

Not a single thing has gone wrong. Once I kicked some wires below the steering wheel by mistake, and so that knocked some fuse connection to get loose and didn't start. But someone found that out in the parking lot I had parked in, and just attached the fuse back and that was the only hiccup that I had caused.

I have changed the oil twice since I bought it. Once put regular oil (since that is the manufacturers recommendation) and another time put Full Synthetic. Otherwise, just pour fuel and go.

General Comments:

I bought the car used from a small Russian dealer. Haven't even had the car looked at by another mechanic for a second opinion. I know this was risky, but off I went. It has been just phenomenal. This is my first car by the way!!! Through-out winter and everything, -40 temps here in Canada, and started flawlessly every single time.

Stereo sound is awesome. Everyone loves riding in my car. Back seats feel like Limo.

Only complaint is: there could have been more lateral support on the drivers seat. Also, ride quality is not the best for my tastes, since I like a sporty feel, so I am trying to sell it. Feels like driving a big pillow. But I am scared I may not be so lucky second time around.
