Nothing.
I've just recently bought a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo 5-Door (Hatchback) in white.
The first thing I noticed when I got into the vehicle at the car lot was how roomy inside it was.
The Chevy Aveo does look like it would be small and uncomfortable from the outside view, but in reality it's roomier than most vehicles I've been in and the seats are extremely comfortable.
The Aveo has excellent handling.
Since it is bigger than my old car (Nissan NX 1600), I figured it would be harder to steer in places and drive around on curvy roads and sharp turns, but it is exactly the opposite. The Aveo far out stands in handling than my Nissan did.
Although there are more good points than bad, I'm not getting the expected gas mileage. I fill up every few days or so. $25 dollars fills it up, but it definitely goes quick.
As performance goes, the acceleration isn't much to boast about. The engine is very quiet. The drive is smooth.
This car is solid.
I recommend this car to anybody who wants an affordable economy car with all the perks of an expensive car.
The Aveo, as anyone who has read any of the Aveo boards knows, is built by Daewoo now owned by Chevy. The only remotely-American thing on it is the lawyer warning on the visors about the airbags.
And while its long term reliability is still up in the air, I have had my 2005 Aveo for over a year and only one thing has gone wrong - a squeaky rear seat. The car performs flawlessly under any condition (had it up to 85 mph in traffic yesterday). It has an amazing torque curve, and if you understand how its engine works the acceleration is not as slow as one might think.
