1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 from Norway

Summary:

Nice looking SUV, but has old technology and plastic feel

Faults:

I had big problems with the vehicle stalling, brake power loss, rough idle and so on.

The problem was the EGR valve.

This is a well known problem on this engine. (4.3 liter)

A mechanic took it apart an cleaned it.

He also mounted a Tomco Kleen Screen Gasket. This is really just a regular gasket, but with a metal mesh that keeps the biggest carbon particles out of the EGR valve.

Has been running perfect since we did this.

General Comments:

Also remember to give your front ball joints some grease every 6000 km. There are about 12 grease nipples there. THIS IS IMPORTANT! If you do this, you will save a lot of money.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 w from Norway

Summary:

God. nice and reliable

Faults:

1: Front brake disks replaced due to corrosion spots.

2: EGR valve replaced due to rough running and fault code.

3: Alternator replaced.

4: Small leak from oil cooler hose.

5: Exhaust aft muffler replaced

6: automatic leveling compressor worn out. The reason for this is probably a leak in the system which caused the compressor to work a lot more than necessarily.

General Comments:

This is my second S-10 Blazer Earlier I owned a 1984 model.

I mean my 1995 model Blazer is a nice, good and reliable car. It always starts when turning the ignition key to start.

One weakness is poor front lights. (low intensity) The rear seats are a little simple without neck rests. Not comfortable for adults. Rank it 8 of 10.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3 from North America

Summary:

The truck is a piece of junk

Faults:

The check engine light came on 600 miles after I bought the vehicle, at the same time the transmission started making a whining noise.

The transmission, after 1000 miles of purchase, wouldn't shift out of second gear.

General Comments:

The truck has good power and rides nice.

It always has SOMETHING wrong with it

Faults:

Replaced: egr valve 4 times, transmission rebuilt, 4-wheel drive switch, water pump, alternator, O2 sensor 3 times, tie rods and ball joints.

It spends more time in the shop than in my driveway! What a piece of junk. It needs a completely new engine and suspension replacement.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LE Vortec V6, 4.3L from North America

Summary:

Nice vehicle, but don't be surprised by the maintenance

Faults:

Cruise Switch.

4X4 Actuator and new push button.

Alternator.

Water Pump.

Brake Light bar on back window.

A/C pressure switch.

Power Window Motor in drivers door.

Door Handle on outside of drivers door.

EGR Valve is the biggest pain, It keeps plugging with carbon.

The transmission was replaced before I bought the vehicle.

I figured these things would come up after 100000 miles. I do most of my work myself so I may save some money. I've noticed some people here saying that their cost for maintenance at a dealership always run $1000 dollars min. I think those people should find different mechanics. All in all if you take care of it from the beginning it will hold up.

I love my Blazer!

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Something is always wrong with it

Faults:

I have replaced the oxygen sensor 4 times. I have replaced the EGR valve 6 times. The transmission has been rebuilt. The brakes have been replaced 3 times. The catalytic converter has been replaced twice. The muffler has been replaced twice. Both idler arms and pitman arms had to be replaced. The electronic switch for the 4-wheel drive system had to be replaced.

General Comments:

The truck had ll recalls in the first 2 years. What a piece of junk! I follow all the maintenance schedules and it still spends way too much time in the shop. I would never, ever buy another GM product, especially a Chevrolet. The only reason I still have it is because it's paid for. When the maintenance payments equal a new car payment, it's going to the scrap yard.
