1999 Chevrolet Blazer LT review from North America
"Excellent Looks, but Very Expensive to Maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Service Performed to Date (after 75,000 miles) :
Replaced battery twice (35K, 50K)
Replaced radiator at 36K.
Replaced water pump at 50K.
Replaced front ball bearings at approximately 60K.
Replaced idler arm and a few other steering components at around 65K.
Replaced fuel pump twice (36K, 50K)
Now at 75K, steering is very stiff and there is considerable play near center.
Just can't wait for the next "surprise".
General comments?
The 1999 Blazer has nice looks and is perfect in size for short trips.
Performance wise, acceleration is very poor and I wonder if it is due to the 3.42 rear gear ratio.
Reliability wise, I would rate this vehicle a 1 on a 10 point scale (with 0 being the worst, 10 the best).
I have maintained this vehicle well and changed the oil every 3,000 miles. I have never towed anything and use it only for general commuting in sunny southern California.
