2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS 2.2lt from North America
Summary:
An Awesome GM vehicle!
Faults:
Nothing so far.
General Comments:
I purchased my new Cobalt in October as a birthday gift for myself and I am very pleased with my decision. The car drives relatively smoothly for a car of its size.
The 5-speed manual fits the 2.2 Ecotech like a glove. Plenty of power from that feisty little engine. The gas mileage is awesome, my city is about 30 mpg, my highway pushes 40 mpg, well above the EPA estimates. I do admit that I have hardly ever "got on it" with a hard acceleration or excessive speeds which probably contributes to the extra MPG.
The only thing I don't really like about the car is the rattling of the driver side door handle and vent. This is a result of the speaker vibration in the door, which is actually a decent sound system for a basic stock model.
All in all though, I am very pleased with this vehicle, at least as of this time. It's still a bit early into ownership to remark on reliability.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Wow, you did not read that review at all did you? Did you take the time to notice that the model year was in fact a 2006 that was purchased in 2005 prior to this site having a 2006 category?
Updates to my original review:
21,000 Miles: Throttle Body replaced under warranty.
23,000 Miles: Throttle "module" replaced under warranty (mileage rounded to the nearest 1000)
Both trips to the dealer were very positive. The parts manager was very friendly and handled my problems both swiftly and professionally. They even arranged for an employee to drive me to work, then pick me up after work and take me back to dealer to get my car. I am very pleased with that dealers customer service and will be back to buy from them when my warranty is over.

There will be rattles and trim problems with any new 1st year model (foreign or domestic). The Cobalt is a VERY well built car, with GM's proven engine and transmission. I'm nearing 60 and am a mechanic who has owned a lot of different cars over the years, as I have usually owned 3 or 4 at a time. My family has owned cars and trucks made by all three US car makers, as well as two Japanese and one German car. The only problems we ever had were with the two Japanese cars and the German car. The absolute best cars we have owned have been GM. Not one of them ever had a single problem...EVER. If you take care of the Cobalt and service it as required, it will last as long or longer than any car made. I've seen GM cars with over 200,000 miles on them that had never had a single breakdown.
