2007 Chevrolet Cobalt review from North America
"I'd like it if it didn't give me so many problems!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have had numerous problems with my car. For starters, lets start with starting! About 3 months ago my car had some problems; I turned the key and the car wouldn't start. Then I turned the key backwards (as to shut it off) and it would start then turn off. It was like a delayed start. I took it in and the ignition switch was changed under warranty.
I have also had a problem with my car's wheels locking up. It has only happened twice, and it was last winter both times. I'm guessing there was some ice, or they were frozen; when it (the vehicle) was put in the garage to thaw, they unlocked.
Recently the windshield wipers have started going crazy; they won't work on low speed. If I turn them on to low speed, they move an inch and then don't move anymore. However, they work on high speed; it's really annoying when I only need them to go slowly.
The most recent and probably worst problem is that it stalls. Originally it stalled when I stopped at a stop sign and wouldn't restart for about 2 minutes. And then it stalled when I was going 70 down the highway and I sat there for 35 minutes before it would restart. For about a month now it's been doing this, and it stalls about once a week. I've taken the car in twice for the last two problems, and they didn't fix the problems because "they can't get it to do it".
The last problem isn't mechanical, but it is terrible. If I turn the car to the left (like around a circle), I can't see because of the extremely huge frames on the sides of the windshield.
General comments?
I am a college student, and I bought the car so that my parents wouldn't worry about me in my other car.
I like my car and I'm proud that I bought a new car, but I really wish I didn't have so many problems with it. The idea was to stop my parents worrying, but now they're just worrying anyways, and on top of it they are mad.
My dad has always owned Chevy and I still love him. I don't know why my car is such a pain, but obviously every Cobalt isn't (a pain) because there are A TON of them around.
