I have had my 05 Equinox for 7 years with no problems. Blame the dealerships for poor workmanship. All companies have issues. A good service department keeps problems down.

I have driven Chevy since 1988. 7 trucks, 2 SUVs and 4 cars. A 2002 Trailblazer Ext was the only bad one.

Thank you for all the information. I own a 2005 Equinox, which I love. I do have small issues, but nothing I can't handle... yet.

I do have some questions that you might be able to help me with. Sometimes when I start my car, it makes a "clicking noise", almost like the battery is dead, but worse. When this occurs, I have to push on the gas to get it to start. Does this have to do with the vapors you talked about? I previously owned a 2006 G6, which did the same thing, but it did it more frequently. So I panicked when my Equinox did it. My Equinox doesn't do it very often, but still does it. I was told it was just the way things are. If it is, I'm good with that, but if it's a problem, I want it fixed.

My seats do stain very easily. I clean them with upholstery cleaner. I have two teenage boys, and everybody knows boys are d.i.r.t.y. And a black lab. I didn't think about seat covers, but that's a good idea.

Recently my cigar lighter has stopped working. I have three, and all three have blown a fuse at the same time. Weird, but I replaced the fuse and all is good again. I had a vacuum that I use that hooks up to the lighter; not sure if that was the cause, but replaced and we will see.

Thanks so much again.

What happened with the starter not disengaging? I am having the same problem too and I am not sure what the problem is.

Also, what kind of engine/drivetrain do you have?

Thanks, Sad Equinox Driver.

Have the same problem with mine. Mechanic said it's something to do with the signal for the fuel to be delivered to the engine. I used to turn the key off and the car would try to start. Now I just touch the gas pedal and the car starts with no hesitation. So, if it hesitates to start, touch the gas pedal.
