2000 Chevrolet Impala 3.4L from North America

Summary:

Poorly made

Faults:

When I purchased this car from the local dealership, I bought an extended warranty. Come to find out the warranty company went bankrupt. Of course this is when all my problems began happening.

I have had the intake manifold gasket replaced, drivers side window regulator broke in the middle of a snow storm, replaced that.

Drivers side window switch stopped working during a rain storm, replaced that.

AC fan would only work on the HIGH setting; replaced that.

Lower control arm bushing needs to be replaced.

Head gasket completely shot, car barely gets out of first gear, will hesitate going up a hill to the point of stalling.

Trunk does not unlock with the key.

General Comments:

Good car when it works.

Honestly GM really dropped the ball on this car.

Too many problems that GM refuses to address

I will never buy another GM product after owning this junk..

Summary:

Good

Faults:

Check engine light is off and on frequently.

Check engine light flashed, car shook, and I had to have the transmission rebuilt.

Airbag light comes on and goes off at random.

Tire pressure light accurately indicates low tire pressure, but why do tires keep losing air.

General Comments:

It has been a great car otherwise, handles well, and is fun to drive.

Why do tires keep loosing air? 1. Small leak at the valve insert. 2. Small leak around the valve stem. 3. Small leak at the tire/rim mating surfaces. 4. Porosity of the tire materials. 5. Porosity of the rim materials.

Valve inserts are $2.00 for a pack of four.

Aluminum rims don't hold air as well as steel rims do. Cast aluminum is porous like a sponge. If that is the problem the inside of the rims can be coated with paint to improve air tightness.

Air pressure changes with the seasons as well. Say it was warm in September and suddenly gets cold in October tire pressure will drop even without a leak. The air contracts more than the tire. Blow up a baloon and put it in a freezer for a few minutes. See what happens.

Summary:

At least the headlights work...sometimes

General Comments:

I bought this car in 05 with 80k miles and it worked great. Now every once in a while my blinkers will stop working and I will have to hit the hazard button to get the blinkers to jump back on, now my hazards don't work. My airbag light will randomly appear and then disappear, or even stay on for a week or two then go off. My security light flashes every once in a while. Once my car would not start because the security light was over-ridding my ignition so I had to leave the key in the on position for 15 minutes for the electronic module to reset. I hear clunking in the truck sometimes (even when I take the bowling ball out!!!) I had to have the battery replaced, spark plugs and spark wires because the wires were arking. Now my engine is in the shop in 1000 pieces and the mechanic tells me that my coolant has leaked into the oil through a cracked gasket, approx $600 repair. Hopefully that will fix the random times where I turn the car on and it rev's to about 5k rpms. WHERE IS THE RECALLS ON THIS CAR???NO DIRECTIONALS???!!!COME ON

I do love this car when it comes to passing people, when IT RUNS and I want to pass someone the hamsters under the hood put there legs in super mode and crank it up on the wheel. The car now has 107 thousand miles, any one looking for a good buy???lol.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

There is a service bulletin at the Chevy dealer that covers your exact problem with the blinkers. And I also believe that they will fix it for free. Please do yourself a favor and check into that. Thanks!
