1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LX 2.5 from North America

Summary:

Great car... those that think otherwise, just don't know how to maintain them

Faults:

Just regular stuff you might expect with an older car. Broken clips, brake pads... exhaust patched up a couple of times. EGR and distributor cap replaced.

General Comments:

Great car! For those that say otherwise, that's just because they're mad that they can't beat on a 15 year old car like a new one. My problems have been few, and were all ones you might expect with an older vehicle. These are great looking and handling cars.

Big trunk; lots of room with fold down seats

Roomy back seat, for a coupe at least.

I keep it clean, and am nice to it, and it treats me well in return

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI 2.5L V6 from North America

Summary:

Great for a starter. Bad otherwise...

Faults:

The cars front bumper is mounted so freakin' low, I cracked it on a curb.

While trying to install a custom speaker set, I had to re-wire the whole audio system, because Dodge/Chrysler thought it was smart to link every speaker, and also put in 1 inch speakers. Not tweeters; just normal speakers that sucked.

The check engine light has been on since I got it. No one can find the diagnostic port to figure out why.

The fog lights don't work.

The steering wheel vibrates after 80ish.

The over head lights don't always work.

Getting into the back seat is nearly impossible, due to my height and the height of my family members.

Needs more cup holders.

Needs a better engine; the current V6 lacks power from a standstill.

Paneling fell off when hit with a basketball; not sure if it's the car's fault.

Horrid turning radius.

The engine sits out over the front tires, making it a boat in parking lots and on tight corners.

General Comments:

My first car.

Comfortable, good commuter, but needs more TLC than I can or care to afford.

It's not exactly the car's fault that you run into stuff. Sure it's low, that's what made them so cool looking... so how do you get around that? Learn to drive with care. And the rest of the stuff you mention is nominal... after all, it's got 150k miles!! Give the car a break.

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LX 2.5 V 6 from North America

Summary:

It is one of the best cars I have ever bought

Faults:

The cruise control went out before I bought it.

General Comments:

Overall, the car handles great and drives fine, plus it is roomy for being a two door.

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LX from North America

Summary:

I am very pleased with this car

Faults:

Paint on the roof has started to fade quite a bit (it has never been kept in a garage).

Driver side door panel is loose.

General Comments:

I bought this car from my brother in law with 179,000 miles on it. He bought it with 30,000 miles on it and never had any troubles with it. I have had it for two years, and have not had any problems with it either.

It is not the fastest or most powerful car, but for a 4 cylinder it does pretty darn good (It actually accelerates pretty fast, I just don't think that top speed wise it is something to marvel over). I've noticed that the shifting in this car is a little more touchy than in other 5 speeds. It takes a little more gas to not kill it. Once you get used to it, you forget all about it. The car handles great.

I get awesome gas mileage and it doesn't use much oil. The only things I dislike is it's not very comfortable for long road trips, and there is only one cup holder which is inconveniently located right behind the shifter. It also doesn't turn very sharply.

Summary:

I love this car!

Faults:

Front end bumper has split & hangs lower due to hitting bottom coming out of steep driveways/parking lots.

Inside mirror dimmer & lights on the bottom do not work... compass is still functioning.

Driver's side door handle broke off... had fixed... 3 months later the passenger's side broke off... have not had that fixed... it's been about 4 years.

Passenger's side door panel kept coming off the clips... changed the clips, re-attached the same panel & it has not been a problem.

Sunroof leaked, but had the drain cleaned out & now it's fine.

Trunk rattles... cannot find out what the cause is.

I have a strange problem that keeps haunting this car... car will start to run rough & then shut off...won't restart... check engine light flashes... had the car towed to the repair shop after it sat overnight & they claim they could not duplicate this problem... the car ran like a dream. This has happened twice more to me with same result... shut it off for a while & it runs OK.

Leaks oil...can't find out where... I think it may be the oil pan, but I keep up on making sure it's filled.

Leaks radiator fluid... I was not aware, so it overheated once (my fault).

General Comments:

I love this car, even with the problems I've had because they have been minor.

This car still gets great mileage & doesn't cost me much to keep it running.

Only thing that really worries me is the check engine thing... don't know when that may turn into a potential BIG problem, but I've had it for 8 1/2 years... this baby doesn't owe me anything!!!
