1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI from North America

Summary:

It is the biggest car buying mistake I have ever made

Faults:

Brakes began squeaking at 13,500 miles and I it took in for this problem at 13,900 miles. Dealership said that nothing is wrong.

Also during this service, the car was in for the driver's outside panel falling off and stereo speaker was out.

Returned for a service at 16,800 miles with progressive brake squeaking, outside panel falling off again, and the same stereo speaker failing again.

General Comments:

Would not recommend this car to anyone and cannot wait to get rid of it. Awesome looking car, but looks are deceiving.

Those were very interesting comments. I'll just have you know though our Chrysler Sebring runs just fine! It is probably just your car, not all the Sebrings! Plus mine's probably better looking and faster than yours.

I agree with the previous person... mine is 34,500 and nothing has ever been wrong with it... of course I took very good care of it and maintained it when it was supposed to be... oh my cup holder broke... also... low profile cars are exactly that... things fall off of them when they are mishandled... I have 5 friends who have had Sebrings and they are all happy with theirs... must be an isolated case of a few owners...

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI 2.5 V6 from North America

Faults:

The brakes failed after 12,100 miles, but the warranty was for 12,000 miles of course. They needed to be replaced again at 28,000 miles. This seems to be a common complaint from other Sebring owners I have met. The steering equipment has also required attention.

General Comments:

Great looking car, but a compromise between a real sports car and a family saloon, which doesn't always work. The brakes are a major problem - I just don't fully trust them. As the car is getting older it's starting to feel sloppy to drive.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

All of these negative comments about one particular car, such as the Sebring LXI should make everyone take notice before they purchase an automobile that the manufacturer will not stand behind.

I also owned a Chrysler Sebring but it was an LX not an LXI. I found that it also began to feel sloppy to drive with age. In addition, I had repeated problems with the vehicle anywhere from exterior problems (such as the side panels falling off repeatedly) but also transmission problems. The residual value of this car is also very disappointing. Chrysler's hot line wasn't very helpful. I will never purchase another Chrysler vehicle and wouldn't suggest it to anyone else. I've heard the same from other chrysler owners.
