1999 Daewoo Matiz SE+ AC 0.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

If you want to beat boy-racers off the line then buy one!

Faults:

Well...... firstly I have had to have a leak in my boot fixed.

My side repeaters were replaced due to them being full of condensation.

My front suspension dampers were replaced as they decided it would be a good idea to leak all over the place!

One of the lights on my dashboard display needed to be replaced, and both me and my brother (we both own Matiz's) have had Daewoo replace our alloy wheels as they started to flake, bubble and discolour!

...But apart from that we absolutely love our nippy little cars!

General Comments:

Although I have had several problems with my car it does not bother me in the slightest due to the fact that it was such good value for money.

The insurance for me (20 years old when I bought it!) was very good due to the size of the engine and the decent alarm system that Daewoo fitted for me.

The problems were cleared up in no time at all and the 3 years parts and labour deal meant that I didn't have to pay a penny for any of the problems I encountered!

1999 Daewoo Matiz S 0.8i from Romania

Summary:

You get what you payed for

Faults:

The car has a not very efficient brake system.

Also she has weak frontal resistance: I hit a rabbit (poor thing!), which broke the water radiator when normally the spoiler should protect any essential part in the front of the engine.

When strong rain falls, water pours inside the night luminator into the car (the luminator is just under the radio antenna).

General Comments:

People say it is a good car, but I never had enough time to become fully convinced. It's cheap, for sure.

High speed is never recommended with her.

Nice looking, surprisingly space inside, but still a little bit short for long legged drivers.

Very easy to drive, but visibility is affected during left turns, due to the left support bar of the front window.

1999 Daewoo Matiz SD 0.8 from India

Summary:

Great car to own and drive. Buy it now!!

Faults:

Nothing as yet!!

General Comments:

A great car to drive if you want to have fun, the 800 cc engine is a marvel.

Best in class airconditioner and fantastic quality ... helpful dealers and company.

The only hitch is the quality of the gear shift... I would have preferred short slick throws to the long one now on the car and also the shift is a bit notchy but it's accurate.. I have never missed a shift once in 9650 kms.

I strongly advise everybody to immediately go out and buy one NOW!!

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Bargain of the decade!

Faults:

Both driver's side side protection strips have come off, but they were replaced under warranty.

Wheel bearing went one week after the 1st service.

General Comments:

For the money this is an absolutely brilliant little car! Huge load capacity (with the rear seats down).

Very economical - over 50 mpg on long (250 mile plus) trips. Managed a trip from the North-East to Paris and back without any problems. Not excessively comfy on long trips.

Lots of admiring looks (and a lot of 'What on earth is that!?' looks too).

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE+ 0.8 MPI from UK and Ireland

Summary:

3 cylinder 110mph??

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

Superb wee car, never driven anything like it! I've seen 110mph on the clock, and it's still going strong. Nice to catch people out who thought a car that small could not go that fast. Petrol seems to disappear when having fun! Buy one today.

1999 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

It does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

This car is the best thing since sliced bread. It does exactly what it says on the tin, looks good, performs well. It's comfortable, relatively quiet and does everything we wanted it for.

We spent a week in Cumbria and I haven't had so much fun in a car for years, it's like a mountain goat!

Value for money? Where could you buy 3 years motoring for around £6500 when all you need to do is fill it up (rarely), insure it and tax it (for £100).
