Hello Folks,

I came across this website by googling Daewoo Matiz heater rad. I have just been told that the heater rad in my 2001 Daewoo Matiz is leaking. I have been quoted €1004 Euros to just replace this and have been warned that they have not yet investigated the damage the leak may have caused and this figure could rise. I estimate the worth of my car to be in the region of about €3,500 and I am trying to justify spending about between 30-45% of the value of the car (depending on the final fix price) to fix. A possibly stupid question what is the difference between a heater rad and a general radiator? I can buy a new radiator for about €100 so I am trying to see what my options are here - any advice appreciated - Claire.

I own a 2002 SE Matiz from new and so far had no problems at all. I live in Malta and here the temperature in summer it can go up to 35 degress Celsius so it's quite hot and have never a heating problem, only thing is that I have a small spot of rust under the left hand door. To tell you the truth it's also a little bit modified I have installed a K&N 57i induction kit a full custom sports exhaust and just order a

30mm lowering kit which arrive in 4 weeks time. Only complain is the gear change as said in other comments from 1st to 2nd

but intend to cure that also.

Regards to all.

From a proud owner of a white daewoo maitz.

Please help!

Had my Matiz now for just 6 months and have had no end of problems. First the engine management light kept coming on and the car kangaroo-ing and sometimes cutting out. I was told it needed a new distributor and that this is a common problem with them. However after being told this, the car ran fine for 4 months! Then what appeared to be the same problem began happening again and so I replaced the distributor. Only to find it wasn't now this, but was a fuel injector problem! replaced that, but it was just the wiring which I had fixed. Then the car begins cutting out randomly, but will start again if left a few minutes, but then again sometimes won't until left an hour or so. Replaced the ignition coil, as I was then told it sounded like classic coil problems.

Again, this did not work and nobody seems to be able to solve the problem!

I have now spent over £300 on parts that I probably don't even need. (When I asked the Daewoo dealer why my car ran fine for 4 months after I was told it needed a new distributor @ £320, fortunately I bought elsewhere, I was told that sometimes you can take them apart and put them back together again and they will work fine again!)

I have no more money to spend on this car! Can anybody please shed some light on the situation?

I had a problems with Matiz cutting off, specially when I lifted off in slow speeds.

Reason was that ignition wire set was loose, so connection to the spark plug was not strong enough, when the engine then moved slightly, spark was lost and engine stalled easily.

Also you should check cable between distribution cover and coil, I had problems with that as well.

New ignition wire set was 28 euro, I installed that myself, since it is quite easy task, just do not mix the cables positions, better do it one cable at time.

Hope this helps,

Hi there,

I'm a red Matiz'99 owner and reading your comments it seems that new Matiz (after Chevrolet acquired Daewoo) are the problem. In almost 9 years the only trouble I had was the cooling tank cap that was leaking. After change it, no more troubles at all.

By the way, I leave in Caracas Venezuela where temperature and humidity may be a big problem for a car...

Mine's a 2000 reg Daewoo Matiz. I had the problem of the engine cutting out while I was driving then wouldn't start for a few minutes, then it got so bad that it wouldn't start at all. The diagnostic tests said it was the idle speed control valve, but that was replaced and it was still having the same problem. Then they found out it was to do with a wire connecting to the immobiliser, which they replaced (the wire) and now its fine! Hope this helps!

I am an owner of a Matiz, year 2000.Have it for 4 years and the car has gone over 125000km without a glitch. Doing regular checkups, but all of a sudden the engine cooling liquid disappeared and the leak seems to be a big one as the water disappears in 10 min. Is it possible that some hose or something other got damaged while getting of from a high curb?

Right, we've got a matiz (well, its not mine, but I drive it), and have been for the last 2 years this november.

Finally I've decided I want to customise it.

Debadeged it (minus daewoo logo as it has holes under it) ages ago, and then fitted a new headunit and sub, which slightly compensated for the complete lack of bass response from the standard speakers.

Next up: WIDE 13/14" wheels (7" or so), stretched tyres (going for a euro look), someone has a set of 7" minilites that'd be the dogs. Also possibly plastic bolt on arches if I need them, and lower it as much as is possible.

Anyone know of any companies that do CHEAP lowering kits? I'm on a budget, and dont want to resort to cutting standard springs (not recommended kids!). I'm based in the UK, and my email is whatchalaughin@hotmail.com if you want to share idea's and info.

Saw someone else mention turbo'ing, any kits?

thanks guys/gals

I have a 1999 Daewoo Matiz since May 2005, had clutch problems at first, but has been absolutley fine since. Then 6 weeks ago engine light came on car cutting out, needed new distributor, and also new immobilizer, has been fine since. But last few days engine light started coming again, now I'm told its the engine speed sensor.

I love this car and hope these problems clear up.

Bought a matiz 5 weeks ago after writing off my beloved laguna (6yrs and lots of miles with no major problems).

All I've got to say is - never again!

In the space of those 5 weeks I've never so much of the AA guys and my local garage!

- alternator

- fan belt

- brake light constantly on

- 2 new tyres (nails each time so bad luck)

-and the icing on the cake today is the inlet manifold.

Total spent on the car - approaching £500.
