General Comments:

I want to join a class action law suit!

The 1999 Dodge Intrepid, is a joke! I feel like I live in the "Bedrock" days.

I dealt with the various sensors going out every 8 to 10 months and paying the normal $50.00 warranty deductible.

I also learned to live with only 2 operable windows, but then the engine went out.

I was on my way home and the car did a few jerks as if it wasn't getting enough gas. But that wasn't the end the began to make a banging noise and I pulled off the freeway just in time for the car to die.

The rest of my story is the same as everyone Elses at this point, except I provided what they ask for. Three oil receipts and a lot of calls, but the 5 star dealership mechanic told the warranty company that there was sludge in the engine before they even tore down the engine. I took my car back before they did and charged me another $500.00 for what they already new.

Never the less I'm still paying for this piece of junk lawn ornament.

1999 Dodge Intrepid ES 2.7L from North America

Summary:

A nice car with too many little things going wrong

Faults:

Headlights will come on automatically. I work at a military installation and have to dim my headlights when I approach the gate, unfortunately, my headlights will just automatically come back on even though the control is turned to off. I actually have to shut the car off to get the headlights to go off sometimes.

Heater only blows out hot air when accelerator is pressed. Otherwise, I get very cold air out when the heater is turned on.

The motor on the rear passenger side window is not reliable anymore. Sometimes it will get the window to come back up, but other times it will not.

The steering has gotten extremely loose also. I can swing the steering wheel back and forth and it doesn't move the tires sometimes.

General Comments:

I really like the drive of this car and it's roominess. I wish it was not falling apart around me though. The engine itself seems to be holding out at 56,000 miles and I consistently get good gas mileage out of it.

1999 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2 from North America

Summary:

An unreliable vehicle with lots of problems

Faults:

-Belt tensioner replaced

-A/C compressor replaced

-Window motor replaced

-Speed sensor replaced

-Rear bearings replaced.

General Comments:

Since I bought this car from an independent used car broker I have had several problems. I am so thankful that I purchased the extended warranty as it has already paid for itself twice. The car looks great and does have a lot of room for a sedan. The problems that I have encountered over the past year and 12,000 miles have been quite extensive. I have had the speed sensor replaced, belt tensioner replaced, A/C compressor replaced, rear power window motor replaced and rear bearing replaced. I am currently experiencing sloppy steering with a loud rattle whenever I hit the slightest bump in the road. I am taking the vehicle in for service again. I have been told it will need a new rack and pinion steering assembly. Overall I am disappointed with the craftsmanship and reliability of this vehicle.

The only thing wrong with sloppy steering on these vehicles is a replaceable bushing kit that attaches both inner tie rods to the rack. I know from experience.
