2001 Dodge Intrepid SE 3.2L from North America

Summary:

Good until warranty runs out, then trade it

Faults:

The CD player/Radio broke within the first month after we bought it.

Unfortunately we didn't purchase the extended warranty and we've been having some problems. After taking it to several garages, we took it to the dealer and they told us we needed to replace the spark plugs and clean the fuel system. We had just changed the spark plugs 6 months ago and had the fuel system cleaned 2 days before we took it into the dealer. They finally told us that 2 of the fuel injectors were leaking and that they recommended that we replace all 6 because the others will more than likely go bad each one costs $70.80 for the part, plus another $16 for the o-rings, this doesn't include labor, plus now the spark plugs we just replaced are fouled out and we will have to replace all 6 of them as well. Needless to say we're not real happy with the performance of this car. How can a 4 year old car be falling apart so quickly? We just traded in a Ford Windstar that had 95,000 miles on it and it ran like a charm.

The decal on the hood of our Dodge even fell off after we had the car 6 months.

General Comments:

The car is roomy and very comfortable on long trips. When it drives right, it's a joy to drive, but it seems to me that it just isn't made well.

I own a 2000 Dodge Intrepid SE. I've had it 18 months, and I have no complaints. It delivers great gas mileage and also is a fun car to drive... A lot of people abuse the cars, and then complain about the car. I purchased my car in November 2003 with 78,987 miles on it, and now it has 97,805 miles on it, and still runs well. I replaced the front tires, 6 months ago, change the oil every 3000 miles check the oil and transmission fluid every time I get gas. I changed the Anti-Freeze last Winter, but haven't had any problems. Yes I would buy another Dodge, and the next one will most definitely be a Stratus, as I have friends who have them 10 years, and love the car. The Magnum is a beautiful car, but I am sad to see that the Intrepid is not being made any more. This is my 3rd Chrysler product. I had a 1994 Chrysler LHS, and a Dodge Grand Caravan, also both great cars, every car has problems, so you get it repaired. I had a Ford Escort that fell apart on the road, after 6 months, and a Nissan Altima, that gave very poor gas performance. I get 25 to 30 miles per gallon on my Intrepid, and got about the same on the Chrysler LHS, and Dodge Caravan. Its all up to the driver, as to how you keep the car, and drive it. Abuse it, and it will pay you back, Service it and it will reward you,and run well. I love my Car, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid. It drives real fine and quiet, good on gas 2.7 V6, so far so good.
