Had to replace Front Rotors and Calipers. Nothing else.
I love this car. I have owned dozens of cars including MB, BMW, GM, etc. and I find this car to be one of the best riding and well built cars I have ever owned. It is fast, quiet, and handles very well.
1996 Dodge Intrepid...Wow, what a good looking car... that is until any mechanic looks at it from the inside. I bought a 1996 Intrepid with 44800 miles and have had nothing but problems. I replaced the water pump the first week. In the 2nd month, the transmission went out which the dealer "fixed" at a discount of "only" $1400.00..Well, you guessed it...2 months later the transmission went junk pile on me once again while on vacation. It took over 3 weeks for the original repair dealer to reimburse me for the out of town experience. What a nightmare. And no more problems for 7 more months, then... you guessed it... ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FAILURE!!!never again will I own another Chrysler product...
I own a 1996 Intrepid and I think it sucks the life out of Chrysler quality. I think its basically a newer version of the crappy K-car, just cost more to fix.
I bought my '96 Intrepid used from my parents with 130,000 miles. they bought it with 50,000 in '98 neither of use have had any problem exept regular service and the recalled injector o rings. This car has been very reliable and it is very fast, have won many many races including against a 14 monte carlo ss with a fresh 350 only wish the speed regulator did not kill the engine after it reaches 118 miles per hour.
It is good that the speed regulator kills the engine beyond 118 miles per hour. this will prevent you from killing yourself or others!
