2000 Dodge Neon ES 2.0 liter SOHC from North America

Summary:

Great little car

Faults:

I have had no problems at all with my car. I have read reviews where people have had many problems and my advice is to replace the OEM parts with after-market or high performance parts. They are more expensive, but the quality is just as high and they are very simplistic. I have done this with my car and it is perfect.

General Comments:

The car handles very well in all conditions. In winter the car is very good. It has never slipped or has gotten stuck. The interior is very well made and comfortable. My parents own a 01 Nissan Altima and my neon has better build quality, and I am a Nissan guy. Overall a very good car with many after-market parts and mopar parts. ACR has many good parts for the neon and I believe they do not void a warranty if installed by a dodge dealer.

2000 Dodge Neon ES from North America

Summary:

Fabulous little car!

Faults:

Tie Rod cracked (hit a MONSTER pot hole)

General Comments:

I love this car!!

Compared to the Lemon of VW Bug that I had last, this car has been a dream. Half the price, and much better reliability.

Have had no mechanical problems with it, no issues to speak of. Wonderful little vehicle!

Drive it 800 miles two ways twice a year with no problems (visiting relatives far away). Lots of every day driving on it - it's our main vehicle right now. Love the car! Can't say enough good things about it. Will definitely stick with Dodge - Chrysler vehicles.

Tire rods needed replaced both times I got it inspected.

The tires wear very easily.

This car is a good car for a young person with a small income.

The car is generally very reliable.

Does not handle near as well as my old car used to.

2000 Dodge Neon ES 2.0 16v SOHC from North America

Summary:

Great Car, Very reliable and quick

Faults:

I haven't had any major problems with Dodge neon (i own 2 of them).

The biggest problem I had is a blown motor mount, which is nothing special considering that this is an auto-cross car.

General Comments:

Whatever people say, neon is a great car and very reliable.

Specially with manual tranny. I drive my neons hard. I race them every year, plus there's a lot of performance modifications done to them.

Performance wise - Nothing touches the neon in its class (Manual trans. ONLY). It can out handle most of the competition. It has some power on a straight line. Integra's and Civics (except G S R, Type R, SI) having hard time competing with even base models of neon (Manual trans. ONLY).

Its the best car $5000 can buy.

2000 Dodge Neon 4 door 1.7 SOHC from North America

Summary:

Good car for the price

Faults:

Currently my fuel pump is shot. Probably went about 1000 miles ago, but I kept ignoring the problem. Be sure to use only 87 octane fuel, higher octanes tend to burn with less efficiency and cause carbon build up.

Tires tend to wear out quicker than cars.

Had some problems with the steering column, but it recalled so no biggie there.

Everything else was fairly normal: brakes, oil change, etc.

General Comments:

Good car for the price. As one reviewer said, everything tends to go all at once.

2000 Dodge Neon ES 2.0 SOHC from North America

Summary:

I love my Neon - but I don't think I can consider it a long-term transportation investment

Faults:

Replaced front brakes at 50,000 miles.

A/C emitting foul sour odor 60,000 miles.

Driver's side door sensor malfunctions 71,000 miles.

Replaced fuel pump at 72,000 miles.

General Comments:

My Neon has the G Option package and came with many little perks that are/were hard to find in a very inexpensive vehicle - alloy wheels, CD, A/C, power doors/windows, and ABS brakes.

This is the same experience I've had with my 2000 Neon ES w/G-Option package. I bought mine in 2001 with 29K miles. I've experienced exactly the same problems at virtually the same mileage points. I'm still get the sour A/C smell periodically. I'm at 81,000 miles now.

Overall, I give this car a good rating. I think you get what you pay for here - a good little car with comfortable features for a low price.
