2004 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 SLT 5.7L from North America

Summary:

Good, reliable truck!

Faults:

I have had no problems with this vehicle. Engine light has started to flash on at times at 142,000 miles. Have not checked it out yet, but this is the first problem.

General Comments:

The truck has been extremely reliable.

Handles and drives great. I enjoy the Hemi.

Transmission has worked flawlessly with no problems.

2004 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT 6.9 turbo from North America

Summary:

It has never let me down

Faults:

Just normal wear and tear, and #5 injector line leak at 110000 miles.

General Comments:

It's a little loud inside.

Overall this has been the best auto I've ever had, and I've had a few.

I'm at 190,000 miles right now, and I don't see why I won't make 500,000 miles.

I service the truck closely. When something needs repairing, I fix it. I pull trailers when needed, and they are loaded 17500 lbs plus, and have had no problems. This truck has done everything I have ever asked of it, and I don't praise it because it's one brand or the other, it's just done its job and more.

2004 Dodge Ram Pickup Laramie 5.9 diesel from North America

Summary:

Looking forward to owning another one, this was my 3rd diesel Dodge Ram

Faults:

Weak transmission, clutches went.

Serpentine idler, starter.

Got the truck used, was in farm use before, so some problems were expected. Also had been used for 5th wheel.

This thing was awesome, couldn't beat it. Very comfortable heated leather interior.

General Comments:

I'll get another one someday soon.

2004 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT Quad Cab 4x2 5.7L Hemi from North America

Summary:

An excellent truck. If you can't afford a Toyota, this is the next best thing

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the truck.

General Comments:

This truck has some serious power from that Hemi. It had no trouble spinning its rear wheels and I've never had a truck with so much torque.

It hauls great too, regularly tow a 7,500 lb. trailer to and from work and I have no trouble doing so.

On the highway, it's very comfortable. Quiet, easy ride, with very little tire noise.

Its gas mileage obviously isn't impressive, I only averaged about 15 MPG. Sadly, I had to sell it because I just couldn't afford to fill it with these gas prices.

2004 Dodge Ram Pickup Ram 2500 5.9 turbo diesel from North America

Summary:

Great

Faults:

At 119000 miles the Lift pump in the fuel tank went out and shut the whole truck down without warning. After being repaired the plastic fuel tank rubbed a whole in the metal fuel line causing a major leak. 80000 miles the bearing went out and the parts alone were $300 each. Other little minor things like radio nobs falling off, etc.

General Comments:

This truck is a beast. Will pull a house down and still gets better mileage than any other truck out there. The diesel fuel is expensive, but the average mpg is 24 and I am getting over 28 on the highway at 70mph. Pulled 3000 pounds over 300 miles and got 25mpg at 70. Overall it is a great truck, just a little pricey to repair. Lift pump replacement was little over $1000. Would highly recommend it to anyone needing to run a lot of miles. The more miles you put on it the higher your gas mileage gets!

2004 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Ram Hemi from North America

Summary:

Awesome, yes service me please!!!

Faults:

I have had to replace the differential on my truck. This was taken care of by the dealership under warranty. I have had no problem since. I service the differential every 15,000 miles as directed in the service manual. It blew up because the person I bought it from was towing a 5th wheel that was way too large for the truck.

My fuel pump went out at about 60,000 miles, and my A/C heater blower switch went out on high; no big deal there.

General Comments:

My Ram 1500 Hemi is a sweet ride; she looks fine, rides fine, her power is unbelievable, and she shines like a diamond.

I take very good care of my cars, especially my Hemi. She is washed & waxed weekly, serviced every 3,000 miles without a hiccup, and looked over 100% when serviced.

After working at a Toyota dealership for over 8 years, seeing how Toyota recommends service to their vehicles, I started applying that same quality of service to all my American made cars, and they all keep running wonderfully.

Minor repairs are to be expected as any vehicle, and at times it's inconvenient, but listen if you're not servicing your car, watching when to do an oil changes, servicing the transmission, services differential, coolant system, fuel filter, brake inspection, tire rotations, efi service, and so on, your vehicle is going to break down on you!! It's just a matter of time.

Look, nothing is perfect, but I bet you eat right, and see a doctor a few times a year right? Well if the doctor says look you need to stop smoking, your lungs are shot, are you going to keep smoking? No, well let's hope you said no!

Service your car, make it last as long as you want it to last!! You be the one to decide it's time for a new car!! Not the car telling you it's time you traded me in..

Best of luck, safe motoring..

Dale R.
