"It has great handling, 4x4 system, and reliability"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Sway bar links need to be replaced.

General comments?

This car has great reliability.

I've had this car from 45,000 miles and now I have 109,000, except for oil changes, tires and plugs, it runs like a champ.

I get about 22-27 miles per gallon for fuel mileage. It sucks now because I had old plugs in it. Should get better now. I get about 300-350 miles per tank of gas.

Very reliable in Wisconsin winters. I love the 4-wheel drive system and the control trac.

The front seats are comfortable, but the back seats in the sport model are not that roomy, but overall I can live with it.

I have a 96 Explorer XLT with the control trac 4wd. It is great it has 113,000 on ans she runs great. the only things that were replaced are plugs oil and tires. But I have to disagree on the gas mileage I get about 14 to 18. The 4wd is great for Michigan winters. The seats are real comfortable the back seats are a little bouncy. It is a superb truck.

My '96 Ford Explorer Sport 2 door manual transmission now has 150,000 and is still going strong! Brakes were replaced at about 110,000 miles. The "check engine" light going on for now reason has been an on-going minor problem for years. I had it checked thoroughly and my mechanic could find no reason for it's going on and off sporadically. I get an oil change every 5,000 miles. My one real complaint about this vehicle is that it could be dangerous for a young, fast driver when taking curves on wet roads. I learned early on to drive it gently when the roads are wet.
