1998 Ford F150 XLT Supercab review from North America
"Very reliable truck that gets decent mileage"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced ring gear at 100,000km - due to lots of towing that was hard on a low ratio rear end - dealer replaced for cost.
Replaced oxygen sensor at 100,000km.
Paint on doors and tailgate started to peel where the skins are put together, apparently a problem with this model year. Dealer fixed for free.
General comments?
Put almost 300,000 km with no breakdowns.
The truck had a few problems, but nothing major and was still running good when I sold.
Got good mileage 700 - 800 km per tank which was excellent - this was mainly due to a 3.06 ratio rear end.
Lacked a little power when towing, but was adequate.
Could have used a little more room in the back seat!
I replaced this vehicle with a 2003 super crew which I enjoy even more.
