My rack & pinion steering had to be replaced at 25,000 miles.
The fuel pump went bad 32,000 miles.
The 50,000 mile tires Ford put on the vehicle needed replaced at 33,000 miles.
The alternator went bad at 33,000 miles.
The car has been nothing, but trouble since I purchased it.
I wanted a reliable car because I was going back to school and would not be working. Although Ford has been good about replacing the parts under warranty, I do not like to be stranded when something goes wrong with the car.
Sorry you have had trouble. Is this an American supplied car? I've seen lots of complaints about US spec cars, but the European cars seem to be fine.
That is because the Euro cars have different engines and fuel systems. The Zetec engine is garbage. The Ecotec and Duratec engines are fine. I wrote the "Gene Simmons" review. I still have the car. I still hate it. It has gone through yet another fuel pump because they replaced it with the same design that was flawed in the first place. I loathe Ford and will never buy any Ford product again.
The problem with american auto companies and quaility of work is #1 the UAW labor union people are overpaid, lazy trained chimps who do half ass jobs #2 american auto makers almost always have to cut corners in the research, design and quality control.. mostly due to labor and high paid do nothing executives! this is why we have so many recalls in the us not only with ford. if you noticed japan doesn't have labor unions and they build quaility autos among other things overseas. look at the toyotas and hondas built in the usa.. they're garbage! know why? because in most countries like japan it's an honour to do a good job unlike american society who just wanna punch a clock make big buck do shoddy half ass work & think about more junk they don't need to buy instead of doing a good job and having pride like back in the good 'ol days.. i think its good that we have this type of competition. looks like they (american auto companies) are finally opening their eyes.. AND YES I DRIVE AN AMERICAN CAR! a focus and it's built poorly!
