Clutch went out within the first 3000 miles.
Needed valve cover gaskets (due to sitting for a while)
Needed clutch quadrant at the same time as the clutch.
Needed an alternator (thanks to a detail shop)
Needs tires due to a heavy foot.
I bought this car back in 2001. I picked it up for 2 grand so I expect some problems. It needed a new top and new seats. She ran strong so I went ahead and bought her. Within the 1st 3 weeks her clutch and clutch quadrant went out. Not a big deal cost me 140 to get her back on the road. Since then she has been a great car. She is run hard but she is taken care of.
I ran her at the track 2 times. 1st time was the 1st week I had her. She ran constant 14.8's. Then I ran her about 7 months later. She was clicking off pretty consistant 14.4's. I think 14 flat is possible in this car. She is more or less bone stock. I have added a cold air intake and electric cooling fan. I have a set of headers and off road x pipe going onto it within the next week. So hopefully she will pick up more. This car is equipped with the 2.73 gearing so on the highway she manages around 28mpg with the 5 spd in the car. Over all I am liking this car. But due to the top condition (thanks to hail) she has a very loud ride.
I bought a 1989 gt convertible on my 18th birthday. it was my first car ever. I got it for 7,000!! I thought it was kinda high, but it was in great shape. Well it didn't take me long to change that! I wrecked her 2 times in the first 2 months. I have never cried so hard in my life. This car is very tough though. Most cars would be down and out after being wrapped around a tree. Not Bad Intentions (her name!). She busted an axle and that was it. Then about a year later her transmission went out. Here it is about a year and a half later and she's still sitting in my dads garage. I don't have the money to get her going again and I wouldn't know who to trust on getting a transmission.
My first car is a 1989 Ford Mustang GT Convertable I bought it for myself on for my 17th birthday. It had 72000 miles on it and he was asking $4,300, and I picked it up from him for $3,800. It runs GREAT the brakes pump a tiny bit, but its not a big deal. Here I am turning 18 next week and I haven't wreaked it yet! Only my mother who backed into it with her Excursion, knocking some paint off the front bumper. But it will look beautiful when she pays to get it fixed this summer.
