"A quick and very reliable car, with a lot of comforts, which will last for years"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Anti roll bar bushes.

Starter motor.

General comments?

Very reliable and quick with it.

The body of the car is still like new and with spares being cheap it will make a good buy for anybody.

I have the Ford Sierra Ghia I, 2.0 DOHC 1991. and I would say that getting spares is a nightmare, also a seperator tool required for disc pad removal. I have tried Chiltern Ford, London Road, High Wycombe, Bucks, {UK Main Dealers} who it seemed to me were not interested in helping me find a repair kit and informed me that they do not stock certain items after 6 years. My problem is the rear caliper pistons have siezed due to the way the braking system operates, this is a common problem with vehicles that have front and rear discs, the car mainly uses the front pads only, as a result the rear caliper pistons sieze up from lack of use causing the pads to stick to one or both discs, once freed, hand brake failure follows as the pistons then sieze open. This is OK if you do not mind having a hand brake or do not mind driving with the realisation that if the front pads fail you have no back up brakes. The solution to this dilemma is to buy new calipers at £200 each, add the price of pads etc. Why the hell Ford cannot supply me with a repair kit is beyond me.

The other problem with the Ghia is it has steel fuel pipes, prone to corrosion near the rear wheel, no, Chiltern Ford does not have nor can it order replacement pipes or any bloody pipes that might be compatible with the Ghia. The solution here was to have the pipes made to order in copper along with new connectors by a pipe manufacturer to the plumbing trade. I am getting there, slowly, parts for old Ford cars are not easy to find, I assume Ford does not stock these parts because they would much rather people bought new cars rather than repair old ones. I would never buy another Ford, new or secondhand given the level of service I have experienced.

Have a nice day.

I put my car in my local garage for new front discs, pads, rear pads and callipers, and to sort out the hand brake, as it never worked. I know it cost £55 each side for the calipers, the bill was about £270 all in, only had the car for about 2-3 hours and it now works fine!!
