1990 Ford Sierra 1.8 GLS Sapphire review from UK and Ireland
"Another ultra reliable car from Ford"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Left rear side door handle broke at 82,000 miles.
Power steering failed at 97,000 miles.
Driver's side window motor failed at 118,000 miles.
Interior light bulb blew four times in as many years.
General comments?
Aside a few niggling problems and the power steering failure, the Sierra was a very reliable car that was also well built, comfortable and a joy to drive.
It also gave good economy and value for money. I bought it for £3,000 when it was six years old, and five years later I sold it to a private buyer for £800. It is still on the road today.
