Brake calipers @ 180,000.
This car has been totally dependable to me.
The previous owner had the transmission rebuild at ca. 160,000.
Good mileage. I average 28mpg. Always starts at once. No corrosion, interior still in good condition, seats still comfortable.
Only right ventilation window does not open and sometimes the speedometer becomes somewhat unstable over 60mph.
Comfortable and rather practical car. Does not even corner that bad.
I do miss adjustable headrests in the front and in the back headrests are totally absent unfortunately.
Also comfortable on a long journey. I went with it from Virginia to Florida on a round trip recently (5,000 miles in 12 days, four people on board) and from Virginia to Massachusetts (750 miles, used as moving van) in one day.
I only spend $200.- on maintenance and repairs in 10,000 miles.
This is the best car I owned so far. That includes a 4 year old Suzuki and a 4 year old Volkswagen.
Keep an eye on this van's two known weaknesses, your tranny and headgasket. Don't "rally" it (drive the van real hard, that is), and it should last you awhile. Most people who have problems with their Windstar is either from lack of maintenance, the way they drive it, or both.
