This car is very dependable.

It gets really good gas mileage.

1995 Geo Prizm 1.6L from North America

Summary:

An amazingly reliable car- buy one if you can get one

Faults:

Replaced starter at 70,000 miles.

Driver's seat belt broke in 2003.

Driver's door lock needed to be replaced at 112,000 miles.

Hood latch broke at 116,000 miles (but may be due to cold).

Exhaust manifold crack discovered in 2003.

General Comments:

The Geo Prizm is a great car. I've driven it from Nevada to Alaska with no mechanical problems whatsoever. It has started at temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit easily, and doesn't give me any trouble handling the cold. The seatbelt and door locks were a pain to deal with, but all in all, it's really very little to put up with. I'm planning to drive it back to Ohio in April 04, and I'm not worried at all.

1995 Geo Prizm Sedan 4D 1.6 5-speed from North America

Summary:

An excellent, reliable car

Faults:

Worn starter contact-point at 95,000 miles.

Lock in Driver's side door became worn after 7 years which caused difficulty in unlocking door sometimes.

After 4 years, sometimes the seat belts wouldn't retract all the way, causing belt to get caught in door.

Motor-mount came loose around 112,000 miles.

Hit a deer which crumpled the hood and left fender, cracked grill, broken left headlight. Car survived well, remained drivable.

General Comments:

I owned the Geo for 7 years, 11 months. I sold it at about 113,000 miles. It still had the original clutch and brakes in fair condition. Seat covers protected the interior quite well.

Excellent gas mileage: 36-38 mpg highway, low 30's mpg in city.

Fuel and maintenance costs very low.

Never had a fuel or oil leak.

Paint remained shiny despite my lack of waxing.

Aluminum body easily dinged and dented.

Good acceleration due to 5-speed transmission. Struggled a little in Appalachian mountains, but not terribly so.

Seats could have used a little more padding.

Spare tire about the size of a Frisbee, only good for about 50 miles.

Overall, this was an excellent car. I certainly got my money's worth. When I sold it I felt I could easily have driven it another 40,000 miles without replacing any parts.

1995 Geo Prizm LSi 1.8 from North America

Summary:

Great Car, Couldnt ask for a better car!

Faults:

Nothing to date.

General Comments:

This car impressed me, I had had another Prizm with the 1.6 engine with the 3 speed automatic and it wasnt a slug, but it wasnt that quick either. When I traded that model for the one I have now with the 1.8 I was so surprised of the difference in performance. The 1.8 is so much stronger and the 4-speed transmission is much smoother than the 3-speed. The car is so much quieter its like a ghost car with the overdrive gear. The one I have now the 95 has all the options except for the leather interior. I enjoy this car. I am hoping this car last me for a long time. The color is deep burgandy and the paint still has lots of gloss left to it, the wheels are the same still shiny. I am 100% pleased with my purchase, and yes I know this is a Corolla in disguise.

1995 Geo Prizm sedan 1.6 from North America

Summary:

A dependable, fuel efficient, low cost, vehicle

Faults:

The Exhaust Manifold had to be replaced due to a crack in it (common problem should have been a recall). The Starter had to be replaced. The Gas tank had a leak in it after traveling cross country. I replaced it. The interior lights act weird.

General Comments:

I love my Geo.

It is so dependable.

The gas mileage is excellent.

I have driven this car cross country several times and it has never given up.

Besides the problems listed above, there have been no other problems.
