1993 Geo Tracker from North America - Comments

"Getting high mileage from my Tracker was my single biggest need and I got it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The only problem we have ever had with our Tracker was the bolts holding the compressor in place. They wallowed out from wear and now we can't keep the compressor belt on. We put a single power steering belt on and bypassed the compressor, but I'd still like my air conditioning back.

General comments?

I did not realize this car had no cup holders when I bought it. It just didn't occur to me to check. That has been a minor annoyance over the years. We bought the cheap type that hangs on the door, but every time you rolled the window down, you had to hang onto your drink.

Have someone drill the holes that are wallowed out and either re-tap them for a larger bolt or insert hardened steel sleeves and bolt it back in. I had the same problem and it solved it with little time and expense.

One idea on the cupholder issue. I found an aftermarket console that can be bolted in between the front seats (it nests over the emergency brake handle. It provides an armrest, storage for CD's etc and best of all it has two cupholders! I got mine about 5 years ago, but I have seen them offered on the same websites that sell replacement tops.
