2000 Holden Vectra CD 2.5 V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A very nice car to drive, but the electronics are a nightmare

Faults:

Speed stopped working associated with ABS and TC fault lights on.

Fault is intermittent and random. i.e. The car will go for 50 to 60 km without a problem then the Speedo stops and the lights come on again. May go for 10 km or so then will start working again.

General Comments:

Have so far changed Transmission speed sensor, and new front ABS sensor. This did not fix the fault so put old front sensor onto other side. Still no go.

I am hoping someone out there has had a problem like this fixed to point me in the right direction. Holden were not helpful at all.

I believe that the ABS is not at fault here. The speed is sensed at the transmission and signals are sent to the ABS and Speedometer systems. If the speedo fails (at the speedo itself or any associated wiring/grounds), then that will bring on the TC and ABS lights also.

Look at the speedo system before spending a fortune on ABS Modules.

There are heaps of forums on the internet related to this problem on a number of different cars. Although they may be different cars with differing systems, the fault still seems to point to the speedometer.

If you service it at its scheduled time, it is a good reliable car.

Good CAR for the money. But has anybody got a problem with the AIR-VENT not shutting completely. (IE outside air can still get in even thought the vent is SHUT).

This is for the guy wondering about the Air-Vent.

Air has to get in somewhere otherwise you could suffocate wouldn't you???
