1986 Honda Accord LX-i 2.0 FI from North America

Summary:

God

Faults:

The headlights like to wink at you.

The power windows don't work 99% of the time.

The suspension is no more.

Neither is the driver's seat.

General Comments:

This car would probably drive off a cliff and run just as good.

It handles better with absolutely no suspension to even think of.

Also, the 1986 Honda Accord out-wheels a bud's Wrangler... his wheels fall off, mine don't.

1986 Honda Accord DX Hatchback 2.0 w/carburetor from North America

Summary:

Looks like a shoe, but will never let you down!

Faults:

Thermostat.

Turn-signal switch (multi-switch)

Slightly "notchy" when shifting, especially when cold.

General Comments:

It is a great little car; Honda really built some great ones in this series.

It always starts right up, is fun to drive (first year for the double wishbone suspension all around), even with its little 185/70 13-inch tires.

It hums right along at 75-80 mph on the freeway and feels stable and safe.

It gets 28-30 mpg in town and 33-34 on the highway.

It never overheats, and the A/C gets so cold it will freeze your butt off even on the hottest days.

It has ugly black plastic bumpers on the front and back that are indestructible! Parallel-parking dings and scratches are not a worry.

It holds a lot of stuff with the seats folded down, almost like a little station wagon.

1986 Honda Accord LX from North America

Summary:

It goes well

Faults:

When I first received the vehicle the interior was in mint condition as it usually holds together well in all accords. I needed to replace the water pump.

I also needed to replace the carb twice dude to the engine dieing after release of the gas pedal (very dangerous when coasting corners) Alternator was replaced.

I also needed to replaced the temperature gage switch. At about 325,000 I had to replace the clutch, which was the origional, the new one cost only $110 (CAD).

Replaced front passenger wheel bearing. Replaced what I would think was also the original fuel pump. Now after about a year and half I haven't had to do nothing more, I just need to replace the valve cover gasket which is minor. Replacement parts are cheap and you will find many pieces you need in the "pick a part" car yards.

General Comments:

This car was taken car of and I continue to take care of it and I know this will pull 400,000k. This is a good car I have lost some fuel effciency lately I get about 520-600 a tank, I have gotten as much as 690 on the tank. It is a very comfortable car all around and is reliable and cheap to run. Handling is very responsive at lower speeds. There isn't to much power to hurt gas consumption and theres enough to get you there quick if you try. The size isn't to big to hurt gas consumption and it isn't to small so that you feel cramped.

1986 Honda Accord DX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

This car is nothing less than awesome!!!

Faults:

Needed a fuel filter.

Needs a new clutch, but its not too bad so I just run it.

Headlights don't work too great. I usaully have to run with the brights on, but nobody notices or flashes me.

Needs new valve cover gaskets (leaking a very small amount of oil)

General Comments:

This car runs incredible now that I have put in a new fuel filter, before I did ran OK when it started, but it only started half of the time. Transmission is still working better then OK. The a/c dash light is burnt out on the dash along with one other. It burns out, its fast, and handles very well.
