Brake pads are cracked, but dealer says this is normal. Interior rattles. Driver's side door seals, and trunk leak. Passenger seat was loose on delivery, dealer fixed it. Brakes make terrible squealing noise. Car does not stop straight. Car broke down once, due to low battery.
I bought my 2005 Accord LX in October of 2004. It is white on tan. So far, aside from what I mentioned above, the car has been pretty good. Since it is a Honda, I know things will work out in the long run. I'm just glad I didn't buy a domestic. If Hondas are having the problems mine is, I don't even want to begin to imagine the kind of problems I'd be having with a domestic. Honda is still the gold standard along with Toyota as far as cars are concerned, and even though I've had some problems with it, I'm extremely happy overall with this car. The Honda cannot be beat, IMO.
You should get your car checked out by an reliable, reputable, independent garage. Brake pads are not normally cracked on any car. And neither are the other problems you mentioned. We currently own a Honda and have owned both domestic (Ford, Dodge) and imports (Mitsubishi, Mazda) and neither have had the extensive problems your Accord has suffered.
You have had all these problems with your Accord and still you praise it? I would be upset if I spent more money at initial purchase and still had these problems. You pay more for perceived quality when buying a Honda you should get it, don't settle for less.
I have had my recent Accord for over 5 years. For the first 3 years virtually nothing happened, just regular maintenance.
Then in one year I made approx. some 39 000 miles. Only thing
that had to be replaced extra was a special valve/sensor in the fuel tank, which in turn occurred during widely publicized Shell's fuel additive problem (damage to fuel line devices; I was a Shell gas frequent buyer). It really didn't stop me from driving, just trouble light warned about this problem.
Simply it is one of the most reliable, well designed and made cars on this planet. They called (automobile journalists) it a charmer for a good reason. End of the story.
My point is: review your car problems on such a level that they are seriously addressed and investigated. What you've experienced is absolutely unacceptable for Accord. Is it possibly "late Friday afternoon assembly?" I wouldn't use a word lemon. Just it doesn't sound right with Honda Accord name. And, yes all will work out fine. Is it possible that some parts of your car were made by some not very careful supplier?-Because Honda's O.E.M. parts should not do that. Could it be a result of some unreported accident before you bought it?
Well I had used Accord before my last one, and made 60 000 miles on it. I couldn't complain. After all, next I bought the next one. I you become absolutely unhappy with it, get a Camry. You see, they just can't make them better than those two, even if you pay way more, it still holds true. Let me congratulate you on an excellent, sensible taste.
To me it's a treat to drive this automobile. I'll might step up to Acura TL next time. Guess what: it rides on Accord's platform.
I'll keep my 96 Accord. Best car I have ever owned, and probably ever will own. 155,000 miles and still running perrfect. Absolutely amazing car. However, It will be my last Honda. Their newer stuff just doesn't seem to be up to the original quality standards and reliability.
