CV joints were cracking when purchased, probably due to the previous owner's hard driving.

Seriously underrated hot hatch. Even in 1.5 twin carb form, it's fast and amazing. Fuel consumption in the 50`s if driven sensibly (around 80mph).

YES.. oil leak from the fuel pump. the 1.5x is a twin carburettor engine with a mechanical fuel pump. the fuel pump has a small pinhole in the side in case the seal inside perishes, the oil is released from that hole to save it pressurising the diaphragm and blowing it.
