1993 Infiniti J30 Touring 3 litre from North America

Summary:

I will always have an Infiniti parked in my garage!

Faults:

Dash lights went and after a little research found to be the Dimmer switch. I picked up a second hand one and it works great!

The headlights started acting up and I had the Relays replaced with second hand ones and they work great.

Lately however I have had problems with the Engine!! It was acting up and making some serious noises at 195000km I took it to the dealer and it blew up in their shop!! I decided that it was cheaper to re-engine it then it is to buy a new car considering I only put 8000km on it a year as a second car. Anyway I have managed to buy a second hand engine 3 years younger with 80000 less km and get it installed all for $2000 CDN. It seems to be working great and plan on driving it to it's death.

Everything else still works like new and I have never been happier.

General Comments:

I love this Car!! I use it as a second car, my wife won't step foot in it for some reason so she drives her New Altima and I get my baby.

I put second hand parts in it because I am trying to keep the operating cost down to $1000 a year which I have done for the past 5 years!!

Hesitation is most likely from a bad knock sensor or mis-adjusted cam position sensor (both affect timing). Ignition timing retarded will cause this. This sensor will not trigger your engine light, but will store a code in the engine control module. If this is not the cause, I would next proceed to check the throttle position sensor.

You might want to also check the MAF this was teh problem on my car.

1993 Infiniti J30 t 3.0 from North America

Summary:

The J30t is a demanding drivers car; luxury, handling, performance and style

Faults:

The Bose stereo system has a solder problem. Apparently in cold temperatures the solder will pull apart, and the stereo operate intermittently and not at all in winter conditions. I have had the system in the shop 3 separate occasions. The first occasion was at 100,000 km.

The transmission shifts roughly from first to second, it has been this way from 95,000 km on. On occasion, the transmission will allow the engine to over rev between shifts under rapid acceleration.

General Comments:

The J30t has serious acceleration.

The car has outstanding body style.

The car is nimble. The 4 wheel steering, the rack & pinion steering and tires combine to give the driver unparalleled control on a slalom style course. When driving on the highway at high speed, the driver will only have to think about changing lanes and the car responds. There is very limited body roll even when the car if forced into rally type cornering.

The interior is very well appointed; the seats are firm and comfortable and fit the driver like a glove to hold the driver in place when driving a tight corner road course. The instrument panel is easily viewed and the center council offers convenient control.

The paintwork and clear coat is out standing. The car is 10 years old and the paintwork still looks factory fresh.
